It has to be the red leather with the mineral grey - just had mine three weeks today and I thought the door cards and lower dash in red wood be too much but I think it looks fantastic , particularly on these dull Autumn/Winter days

Grey and Oyster is a great combination but then I am a little biased.

Out of interest, what sort of discounts are available on the 435d? The reason I ask is that I was watching Steve Sutcliffe's Autocar video of the Alpina D4 the other day and, bearing in mind they come with a higher spec than a standard 435d, I was just wondering what the real difference is in purchase price? The D4 looks to be one heck of a car and if the on-road price isn't that much different when you spec them like for like it must be a far better bet than a 435d; however, if there are big discounts available on the 435d that's probably a different matter!

The D4 is 6k more and you get 19" wheels, adaptive suspension, sport steering and the big brakes as extras over the 435d call it 2k's worth.

You'll get 6k off a 435d so spec for spec the Alpina will always be about 10k more.

Just specced them the same and the D4 is 58.5k the 435d 51.7k given that you'll get 6k off the 435d the gap widens to about 12-13k.

My mistake, I thought the D4 might have come with more than £2k of extra equipment but it doesn't; must have been confusing it with the B4 (which has things like professional media as standard) but they're £7k more than a D4! Anyway, I'd consider a £12k price gap between the 435d and the D4 to be significant so if a discounted 435d is at the top-end of someone's budget that probably makes the Alpina a bit out of reach....

They do naughty things like charge you 2k for the merino leather as well whereas BMW charge 1k, if you want the lavalina leather that starts at 4k or over 7k for full leather.

Very pricey machines.....

Always fancied an Alpina but haven't yet managed to take the plunge! My assumption is that there'll be little or nothing doing in terms of a discount on a new one although I've never actually asked the question of Sytners. They also seem to control most of the nearly-new market (and keep the prices relatively high) but I do hear rumours that when you come to trade-in the cars are suddenly worth little more than their mainstream BMW equivalents. If true that seems to imply that you pay a premium for an Alpina when you buy but that premium is worth considerably less when you come to sell; put the two together and that sounds like a recipe for an expensive ownership experience!

Yes they are an expensive car, a D4 allrad would be nice though!

Bringing this back from the dead......

Looking at the (deep breath) 435d convertible M Sport X drive

Looking through comments here I'm amazed about the suspension issue, I was one of those muppets that hadn't noticed the lack of M suspension until I saw this thread!

However, on the configurator, (someone please prove me wrong on this) it appears to me you cant even spec adaptive suspension (box for it is greyed out, so not standard and not selectable as an option)

So does that mean if I go for the so called top of the range (bar M4) I can't get M Sport suspension - seems nuts!

You can select it, I've just looked so unless you're optioning something else that stops you adding the adaptive suspension/ One thing to note the M sport xdrives all ride higher than the S drives regardless of which suspension you choose.

Got it

398 wheel style, black 18"

They have run flats, so with that on it wont allow adaptive suspension - bit odd

They're great cars and I'm not finding any issues with the suspension.

That's with the 19's and still not seeing any issues.

Got the red leather too and I love it.

Enjoy in good health!
