Does anyone own either of these with the 3L engine, the 272hp ones. Trying to gauge real-life consumption. Thanks.

The real world for one man is different to what it is to another.

I'm averging 26mpg in my car, so I suspect I'd be getting a good chunk over 30mpg in a 530i.

My advice would be to see what you're averaging in your current car, compare that as a percentage to the official figures for that car, and then use that percentage for the 530i and you probably wouldn't be far off.

It's probably irrelevant - there were almost no F10 530i's actually sold. I think they registered less than 50 in the end? It was a surprise to see it re-introduced and it didn't last long.

The 528i is more common (Though still fairly rare) but is only 258bhp.

They are N53 engined car, the only direct experience I have was with an N53 engined E60 525i, same 3 litre engine, lower state of tune. This was surprisingly economical, I would see almost 45mpg on a run at times. Probably about half way between an older 530i and a 530d.

A shame it wasn't more popular because IMHO it's the ideal blend of economy, refinement and silky smoothness.

I'd have happily bought a 530i F10.

Thanks, didn't realise they were 258.

Too be honest, only saw high teens out of my 7, and until the mother fkers stole my 530d LCI tourer off my drive, that only saw around 33. Trying to work out if I need a tourer, or if I could get away with a saloon, there's a few 528i F10's on auto trader that may fit the bill.

My 328i touring will see low 40s on a steady motorway run, overall it's averaging mid 30s.

Hi, I have a 57 plate 530i msport, silky smooth, a nicer drive than my previous 530d and she averages 33mpg with a mix of driving. I tend to do a lot of high speed motorway runs and I don't boot it around town. Tbh I find it no less economical than my old 530d.

If you can find one in good nick then go for it. Coil packs and high pressure fuel pumps are the only real things to worry about. The fuel pumps aren't cheap but then they don't fail on every car.

Good luck!
