My car went in for a service last week and they advised that it would need new air and pollen filters.
Now having done this myself on previous cars I thought I would just buy the parts and do it myself.
Parts have arrived and I've just been out to look at the job in hand and hit the first stumbling point.... I can't get the engine cover off!! Not a good start to what is apparently a bit of a fiddly job anyway.
From what I've found there are 2 hex bolts and then the whole cover moves about but seems to be stuck at a point just around where the pipe enters the air box (left hand side of oil cap). Is this just one of those ball popper things that you have to give a good yank or is there some knack which makes it easily slide off?
I remember a similar issue I had with a polo or corsa windscreen winder that I was yanking on for an hour only to find that sliding it over popped it off easily.
I hope someone can help.

Should just be some very very obvious bolts on the engine cover and then you slide forwards and then you can usually take the air duct with it which is usuallyheld down with those press in clip fittings or sometimes T20 screws.....

Really this shouldn't be a struggle, how do you plan on going further if you're stuck here?

Haha, I know it doesn't sound like a good start but there is something holding it down with no visible bolt head so I am guessing it needs to be slid in a certain way or something. I was pressed for time today so decided it would be best to check online than waste all the time I had messing with getting it off only to have to put it together again without actually getting the job done.

It shouldn't be that bad, I've tackled bigger jobs in the past, I just don't fancy snapping something and getting a load of grief from the OH for a rattling engine bay wink
