i am looking at buying a 2006 630i Sport.

I have owned a couple of 330ci sports of about the same year.

I was just wondering is there anything specific i should be looking for?

The one that has grabbed my attention is on 66000 miles and manual so i dont have to worry about the auto box going udders up.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Michael.

The auto boxes in these are meant to be pretty solid. Unless you really want a manual I would probably steer clear, the manuals dont hold onto the value. 630 a nice engine, I went for a 645 as they are actually a little cheaper and only 2mpg approx in it.

Can you provide evidence for this please?!

all the cheaper ones i found were £6k for a manual and about £7k for an auto. I researched these cars for about 6 months. Not many manuals about.

The fact they dont hold value is a good thing, he's buying a 10 year old car so one that depreciates more will mean a newer and lower mileage car for his money.

Quite a few threads on these.

I went for a 645ci, as I wanted a V8. It was a fantastic car. As others have pointed out, MPG difference is not great between the two and the V8 is a super engine.

With petrol prices as they are right now, I would definitely be after a V8 - they are usually better specced too.

I only found about two cars in my search that were manual - neither appealed and as much as I don't like slush boxes the one in the 645 worked well and did suit the car/engine.

When something like one in a hundred cars are sold with a manual box, that should tell you about demand come resale time.

Thanks for the advice guys,

I went for a 650i sport in the end and i have not stopped smiling yet. True the fuel is not good but that 4.8ltr V8 is just sublime.

I would deffo go down the V8 route now and not the straight 6 as the difference and enjoyment is just to great.

Thanks again for all the help.

Well played OP! Great engine. Did you have to go auto?

Yes the auto was what I went for. For this car it is perfect, cruising is so easy and when you push it, it just goes. This is the first car I have ever owned where I find myself just wanting to go for a drive. Perhaps that may be because I just turned 40 but I would rather think it's that wonderful V8!
