Just looking for a reality check before making a cross country trip.

Looking at a 2006/56 330i M-sport saloon, 65k miles, looks in great condition, FSH, HPI clear, just serviced.

Independent dealer (real business) asking £7.5k, does that look a bit too cheap to be good?

Glass guide is £8.1-10k for one with a mileage of 72k. So £600 below bottom end price, for 7k lower mileage and in great condition.

This is what's on the market at the moment for comparison:
2005 05/2005 96k se 4500
2008 08/2008 97k se est 6900
2005 05/2005 64k se 7000
2006 56/2006 72k se coupe 7000
2006 56/2006 95k se coupe 7000
2006 56/2006 65k m-sport 7500 < this one
2007 07/2007 80k se coupe 7900
2007 57/2007 86k se coupe 8000
2006 06/2006 49k m-sport 9000
2007 07/2007 57k se coupe 9000
2007 07/2007 85k m-sport coupe 9000
2007 07/2007 52k se coupe 10000
2008 57/2008 94k m-sport 10000

It's a bad time of year to sell good time to buy. He will have a margin on this so it may of been a px.

My feel is £8250 is about right. So it's a good price. Spec is everything and can have a big impact. Nav, heated seats, xenon, sunroof, upgraded hifi are nice options to have.

The 3 litre engine is fantastic. Powerful, sounds great and reliable. May need discs and pads at that mileage which x4 would be around £600

As long as you've done your checks & the car is okay you'll drive away with that car for 7k as stated above it's a great time to buy.

If it's a good one it'll be sold before you get there. I've been looking for months and only being able to view on weekends have missed out lots.

Pricing is all over the place. IMHO they are way overvalued at the moment. Bear in mind as soon as they go over 100k the price will start with a 5.

Is that Glass price coupe or saloon, automatic or manual?

Last price guide I checked for a 330i M Sport 4 door manual was £6.5k at a franchised dealer.

If you have a 330i manual touring for sale it seems you can basically name your price.

I'm sure you've done your research on these but its well worth checking for the hydraulic valve adjuster tap and the fuel pipe leak so you don't get stuck with a big bill straight off the bat.

What is the offer from webuyanycar? If buying from a dealer i would be inclined to add 30% in top and 20%on top if privately.

330i touring manual type None to be found.

I was looking for a 330i touring for weeks (maybe even months) before I gave up and went for a much newer 320i (because I didn't want a 335i and BMW, the bds, don't make an NA I6 anymore).

Hardly Max Power, i mean, it has no lairy fibreglass body kit, no boot full of subs etc.

I prefer to call it OEM+

Wheel clearance way too small and exhausts way too big IMHO. Maybe just me but I've always preferred true OEM cars.

It has a gold engine bay. I'd call that PIMP+

I like it the engine bay is a bit much but when the bonnets shut it's not a problem, I like the lowered stance 19's 335i rear diffuser etc I'd buy it if I was looking for something like that

Its actually BMW phoenix yellow, to match the BMW Performance Brakes. Not quite PIMP when the bonnet is closed lol.

I have one objection - you take a lovely NA I6 and mate it to an old-school auto 'box! It's like putting tomato ketchup on a fillet steak. Shame on you.

I drove an auto 330i and thought "Wow. You wouldn't even know what's under the bonnet".

I echo this too and it is such a bad combination...I am slowly warming to mine but only because I haven't driven a manual for such a long time and I have just got used to it or I just accept its short comings...

Simple answer to this. I wanted a manual, but finding one with the engine I wanted, and the spec I wanted was impossible. I had to settle for the auto.

OP: sorry if this is taking your thread off topic

Fair enough! I reached the same conclusion and ended up buying a manual 4 pot instead. All sub-optimal.

That was the same for me and I really wanted a manual too but I couldn't be bothered to wait so I thought because the car was only purchased as a comfortable motor to get me from A to B an auto would have sufficed...it hasn't but you don't know that until you have done it, and the wait for a manual to come along would have been worth it in the long run certainly.

I love my auto 330i - it took a bit of time for the gearbox to grow on me though smile The smooth slusher combined with the engine makes it lovely to drive around town. Only annoyance for me is it can change up too early if you're taking it easy and the engine takes ages to get up to temp.

I wouldn't swap it for the manual - I think the box suits the N52 really well. It's not a completely gutless engine below 3000rpm tongue out
