Help! 3 series M sport - I have kids - they play football and aged under 10. I have opted for oyster/black trim.
Is this a mistake? Not too late to change spec. Not doing red, so that leaves black.

95% of them are black, and I'm a bit bored of it. Hardly any with Oyster!! confused

Just keep on top of the cleaning and you will be fine.

Dakota leather is hard wearing as it's not the nappa.

They're a stack of good leather cleaners on the market e.g. http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/auto-fines... which is the stuff I use. It easily gets rid of dye transfer and marks.

The thing you need to worry about is the carpets if they are not black.

Thanks. Carpets are black. It is just the seats (and seatbelts) and part of the door inserts. Not like old cars where half the dash was yucky cream.

I'm erring towards black... again!

Seatbelts and other light coloured non-leathers are easy to maintain, just need to do some preventive stuff first.

There are plenty of car related products similar to Scotchguard that will protect and make them easy to clean.

FWIW I use G-Techniq.

You can have brown on M135i's so assumed you would be able to get it on an M-Sport 3!

I've got a white zed 4 with red leather great combo . I treat the leather with bmw leather care so it just wipes clean with a damp cloth

I have light leather ( beige) after nearly four years it's still like new. I use baby wipes and any grubbiness just lifts off

Oh yes and I have young kids

I have found that oyster gets grubby quickly and shows marks more than beige, but as long as you keep on top of it you'll be fined

Who wants to drive round in a coal scuttle ?

Exactly, drive round in something you have to look after a bit or drive round in something that looks st?? biggrin

Black leather always looks older quicker as well, this is cause it doesn't doesn't show the dirt as much and so doesn't get looked after properly.

if the choice was between red and a coal scuttle the coal scuttle would win every time for me! I know a lot of people quite like red but on more than one occasion I've not pursued an interest in a car purely because it had a red leather interior; each to their own but personally I don't like it and when combined with Estoril Blue it looks downright cheap and tacky IMO. However, credit to BMW for giving us the choice - would be a boring world if we all liked the same!

I had an E36 318iS as a company car in the 90s - black paint with red cloth interior. I really liked it but my wife hated it - and it was known as the "tart's" car at work. I have been told in no uncertain terms that red interiors are a no-no!

Oyster looks good (as long as dash and floor are black) - I think you can get brown Dakota as no cost on 3 series luxury model but not on m sport. And I don't think you can get brown on M135i - but you can on 235. And on 5 series

The Mocca on the new X3 looks really nice when you see it, doesn't photo that well though.

I have Oyster/Black and it looks great but not sure Id get it next time. The seats do discolour even after constant wiping. The bolsters on the sports seats also show discolouring due to seat belts and manouvering in and out of the car. Red or back to black next time for me.

It is awesome, but I am biased... Protect it and attend to it and you will be fine.
