Planning a car change, and searching the bmw used site this came up.

http://usedcars.benhamwolvesbmw.co.uk/showroom/3-S...

Just after a little advice on the following as information I've searched for is little indifferent. So....

What should I be looking for when I view, i.e common faults with the car, things to test?

The claims of an average 38 mpg, is this achievable on a 'normal' 28 mile commute on A roads? Not a deal breaker but we all like to save a few penny's when we can.

Boot size, on the odd occasion I take my niece and/or goddaughter (both nearly 2) on outings, will we be able to comfortably fit a push chair in the boot? Also thinking about it will a car seat fit in the back?

BMW Professional navigation system. What is it? Again lots of info on the net but with different answers.

Enhanced Bluetooth telephone functionality, again what is it, I understand you can connect your phone but what's the reason for it being enhanced?

Finally negotiating, I'm rubbish at it but I wouldn't mind saving a few quid. How much do you think I can 'knock them down to' I have a p/x worth about £6000 trade in price. Any tactics to use or dealer talk I should ignore?

Many thanks.

Professional navigation is the large wide screen navigation

Enhanced bluetooth means if you get a compatible phone cradle you utilise the external ariel of the car for better reception, also you can have more than one phone paired at once

That's one rare car, a manual 30i petrol.... See how many similar ones you can find! Decent spec / colour combination too

I've got a 2009 330i, i didn't look at the claimed mpg figures but if they say it's 38 mpg, I get nowhere near that, I get 28 mpg in an auto, I don't hang about but I also don't ever have to sit in traffic, mainly clear A roads and motorways.

That car is a nice and is rare as a manual, nice spec and colour of interior.

That is a nice car. I've got a Black Manual 330i Coupe, but I had to settle for a much lower spec and higher miles in order to get one.

I get 27 around town (most of the time for me as I live in London), 30mpg in mixed driving and 34mpg on the motorway. I drive it quite hard though.

I did a trip to the Alps in it once and stuck the Cruise Contol on at 79mph over a long distance and managed to average just under 40mpg. Soon tired of that though...

Also, just to add, I've currently got two child seats in mine (one for a newborn, one for a 3 year old). A single buggy fits fine, and our Nipper 360 Double fits if manouvered in carefully. Problems wise, I've had one injector go in nearly 2 years- my car has done 109,000 miles and has been pretty reliable. Ditch the Bridgestone runflats though

Say I was to swap over from run flats to normal tyres, would this affect the tyre sensor if there's one?

Think I'll be popping over to the dealer tomorrow to take a look and hopefully do a deal.

A little update.
Just seen the car, looks lovely the alloys need refurbing but we were a £1000 off agreeing a deal. Not sure weather to hold off and make an offer in a few days.

I saw this car on sale well before christmas, so it suggests they are struggling to sell it. Price was higher then by 1k maybe more.
I think they should refurb alloys as a matter of course as it's an approved used car. make sure you get a copy of the Approved use check if you do buy.

I agree with your tactics.

Interestingly the price tag in the windscreen was over 18k. I was told it's an Internet speacil at the online price. Defiantly going to wait a few days.

Shat! Defiantly get them done as part of the deal.

Although I'll probably catch them on the curb a week later.

Had my 330i for 3 years was a 2006 model.

Car seats fit fine using isofix or belts.

Most prams fit fine in the boot unless you have a monster

Fuel economy will be around 5mpg worse then what's claimed.

I suggest you look at the national dealer network and find a car being sold at another BMW dealer with same spec and mileage for less. Then use this. All dealers will deliver car for you.

I would insist of refurb as part of deal and not a smart repair but proper refurb. Smart repairs are often just a blow over and 6 months later they look terrible with pealing paint. You should get a 1 year warranty. See if they can throw in tlc servicing for another 2 years.

Lovely car with great colour combo and spec. The only thing I don't like is that silver interior trim.
Also not sure if those alloys were available in 2010 but they look good. I guess petrol prices have made these a viable option again...can't believe it hasn't sold already.

No. The sticker price tells the story. Maybe it was too expensive with 335is but make sure its all okay. Ask to see AU check report .

Quick update: had a courtesy call today and as I was in the area popped down and made an offer.

All being well I pick it up Saturday, genuinely excited.

Thanks all for the help. I will be checking the report before I hand over the cash.

The car looks great, enjoy if you do the deal.

One comment. I had a E91 and stereo was rubbish. See if you can have BMW add in the Alpine upgrade which includes an amp, tweeters and better door speakers. No harm asking!

I have the E90 325 and I get 22mph around town. I don't do a lot of spirited runs anymore but I rarely get more than 23mpg however I drive. On the occasional motorway run, low 30's can be had but no more. Mine is the 2.5 version so I can't imagine the 3.0 doing a lot better.

Another question.
I want to connect my iPhone 5s to the car to play music, but I would like the track listings displayed on the centre screen. Is it possible? There are usb cables to connect the phone but reviews say It won't display the track listings. Or can I do it via the Bluetooth?

You definitely can't do it through Bluetooth, but would have thought prof nav would have displayed track info via the usb.
