Well now you mention it...

Had new rear discs and pads fitted to my 2003 330Ci.

Engine warning light also stuck on. Garage has recommended replacement of 'all 3 cats'. 3??

...and the cost is 'around £1,500 Sir'.

'Oh and by the way, one of your rear springs is broken'.

Purely for research purposes I checked on WBAC and they offered £1,300...
Highly unlikely you need all 3 cats IMO and like mentioned already putting in a pair of rear coil springs is no sweat

Re-installed my JB4 after a numpty mechanic disconnected it. God I've missed it.

Also fixed my hard-wired phone dock/charger as the earth had somehow disconnected!

I'm looking forward to the drive to work tomorrow

Sold it!
I had the E89 Z4 for 2 years and have just sold it back to BMW. It's now in their approved used scheme.

I had the 28i version - a great car all in all and such a fantastic engine. However, only having done 6k in 2 years meant I wasn't really getting much use out of it so it had to go.

I'm now car-less and will stay that way for a while I think.

BTW - if anyone would like to buy an official BMW ipod y-cable (£50 at BMW) that plugs into the centre console under the arm rest (it's for the iphone 4s but I used it with my 5s with the suitable Apple lightning adaptor), then please PM me. It's yours for £25 plus P&P.

2 trailing arm ball joints fitted (non M3 E46 so fitting a ball joint to the lower is an upgrade).

Bought it!
Sold my X6 on Friday, picked up a 2005 645ci in London yesterday and drove it home to Aberdeen (averaging 31mpg, don't think that's going to be repeated).
Just finished giving it a quick clean out.

Just been playing around with the MAF on my E39 530d (184hp - an early one). Disconnected it and made no difference to way the engine performed. So just pressed the button on a new Pierburg 7.22684.08.0 MAF from some place in Germany for £60. Supposed to give marginally better running and performance than the BMW OE (the price for those things is obscene!)

Replaced the main engine thermostat on my 330d, only £45. Smoother running and higher mpg. Result smile

Washed 4000miles of dirt from it. Clay bar'd the bonnet, filthy.
Gave up.

Mine recently had some warranty work on the tailgate as it was going a little rusty in places. Usually I'd ask them not to wash it, as I'm quite particular and I know what dealers can do with a gritty sponge. biggrin I'm recovering from a broken collar bone, so my wife took the car in and the dealer delivered it back. Paintwork on the tailgate done. All good.

Rest of the car didn't look so hot in the sunlight though......

First job once I'm better is a full machine polish to return it to how it was previously. Naturally I'll enjoy doing that, but no wonder dealers get a reputation for knackering paintwork.

Fitted new spark plugs after realising there was nothing in the service history about changing them since 2005.

About 55k miles.

Today I got back from a st holiday, opened the garage door and looked longingly at it. I can't drive it this weekend because it's wearing the wrong number plates until Monday morning frown

Fitted a new knob to my E46 M3. It is the one from the F10 M5 and it looks so much better.

Will give it a test drive tomorrow.
