Hi,
I'm thinking of buying an e30 325i m sport. It's for sale on here and ebay, I don't know how to put a link on here but it's the only white one for sale and it's at £4650.

Basically I phoned this morning and the owner has no history or previous mot's for the car, just the current v5 and mot. I reeeeeally like this car but am a bit worried about the lack of history, so my question is should I be worried? And also, does anybody know of the car or know if it's possible to trace it's history?

Many thanks in advance,

Ant.

You can track the MOT history online, check numbers against the v5, google the reg, check spec etc with the BMW vin decoder online, possibly try calling the supplying dealer for any servicing records if it's on the number plates...?

We would really need a link to help.

I had one is these in my youth, awesome car. I bought a 1989 325i Sport with around 70k on the clock, paid £7500 for it. I'm amazed they're still going and selling for that amount

Think this is the car the op is looking at,

In my opinion, no history at all, Maxxis tyres and boot badge in totally the wrong place mean it's too expensive. Drivers footwell carpet looks horribly grubby too.

Looks to be fairly typical of an E30 of this age in fairness, I guess you'd need to read between the lines as to what kind of owner it is and the likelihood of it being an honest and genuine car, I have two of these and one of mine had absolutely no history whatsoever and the other had history up until about 1992 smile it will probably want money spending on it anyway, that's just the way it is with old cars, but even if it needed a new engine though it wouldn't be the end of the world financially (speaking from experience).

Would it not be worth spending a little more and buying one that has history and won't need work? I'd be surprised if that body kit isn't hiding something, they usually do on these.

Get yourself on e30zone and have a look to see if the vendor is on there, might turn out to be quite revealing! Check the adverts first to see if he's listed it there then you'll have his username, otherwise do a forum search on there for people with Sports wherever he's from.

It will be rusty unless there's been a massive investment of time and effort on the part of the owner to make sure it isn't. This guy don't mention it. Anyone who knows about e30s and is selling one would mention the sills, jacking points and arches - this guy doesn't. Why not just go see it and check it out?
