Left a deposit on a Graphite 330i M Sport Manual, pick it up Wednesday!
Great stuff mate, hope you enjoy it! They look fantastic in grey!Left a deposit on a Graphite 330i M Sport Manual, pick it up Wednesday!
I recently bought an E93 330i Msport in Sapphire Black. I think the black does great to hide the 'verts shut lines a bit better.
Really smooth drive and has enough grunt when you get the revs up, of course its heavier than the saloon/coupe but still exciting to drive.
Oh and that noise is pure win!
Hi,
I own a 330i e92 2007, it’s fast enough to have fun in, it revs to 8000 rpm, it’s got an engine which needs to be work, the engine is very smooth, it corner very well with stiffer suspension and rear wheel drive pushing the power out smoothly round the corner, it doesn’t want to step out, it doesn’t have torque steers which is more predictable, it can definitely keep up with a lot of fast cars around corners. In sport mode, the car holds it’s rev for longer and in manual you can change gears or drop down whenever you decided, but the car will change gears itself in manual if it hit redline. Without turbo, the sounds is phenomenal,
However after having a diesel turbo, the only thing I missed about the turbo is the torque and fuel economy.
The E92 330i becoming a lot rearer to find nowadays, the engine in the car is N52B10 3.0L 6 cylinders. It’s pretty much a 325i that’s been tuned. It’s has a stage 3 intake manifold. Pulling 272hp, 5.7-6 second 0-60. As daily driving, it’s always temping to put your foot down for the sounds.
No turbo problems.
Reliable engine than 335i
Less expensive to maintain than 335i
Not as fast as 335i & can’t remapped to have much more gains.
Still a quick car, great compromise between 335i & 325i.

That doesn't sound quite right somehow. By 2007 I thought all of the E9* range got the Direct Injection N53 engine which is the one for which BMW claim 272 bhp and 6.1 Seconds 0-60. But the 325i of that era did have a detuned 3 litre N53 engine. The E92 330i becoming a lot rearer to find nowadays, the engine in the car is N52B10 3.0L 6 cylinders. My 2005 E90 330i has the N52 engine. BMW claim 258bhp at 6,600rpm (265 in the E92 & E93 though) and 0-60 in 6.3 seconds. And the 325i version of the N52 was actually a 2.5 litre. The red-line on mine is at 7,000rpm.
But as you say finding any 330i is not easy, especially as I wanted a manual gearbox!
It’s a few years now but I wanted a 330i as I decided the performance would be adequate therefore a 335i with its potential expensive issues wasn’t necessary. I couldn’t find one that was manual, nice, unabused or well spec’d and me being me wasn’t prepared to wait so ended up with a 330d.
I’ve had it over 4.5 years and haven’t really regretted it, well, apart from when I hear a 330i drive past
I console myself with the fact my mapped D is a bit faster and is a lot better on fuel.

That was the same conclusion that I came too as well. I had a E90 330d from 2006 to 2012, and then a E90 330i from 2013 to 2017. The 330d was the better overall car for me. The 330i genuinely felt gutless after the 330d, because the torque from the diesel had spoilt me. Both were very good all round cars, but after experiencing both...the 330d is the better car for me. The 330i is very muted both inside and outside anyway, so you don't really get to enjoy the nice noise from the N52 anyway. I believe that the 130i/Z4 3.0 with the same engine are more vocal though.

Yup, the Z4 and 130i used the N52 as well. The 125i has a detuned N52 engine too and is just a remap away from full power. The later 1 series cars stuck with the N52 rather than moving to the N53 like the rest of the range. Both were very good all round cars, but after experiencing both...the 330d is the better car for me. The Z4 in particular is quite a lot more vocal than the 3 series. My 130 is too but it has the carbon intake and a 135i exhaust to release more noise.
Agree the N52 is so muted in the E9* cars!
My E91 325i was almost inaudible, but thankfully my E90 330i seems to have the golf tee mod. But both of my E86 Z4s had a proper soundtrack, especially my 2nd one as it had a custom built cat-back system.
Looks like I need to try a 130i though.

I had 2 330i in e92 msport trim.
A 6 speed manual silver one with every conceivable optional extra. It was a beautiful place to be but after an e46 m3 the performance and feel were quite disappointing (silly to compare the 2 I know) the N53 in that one was; as said by others very quiet and rather lifeless if not quick going by the numbers on the speedometer. It threw up a cam phase timing issue shortly after purchasing and although 'fixed' under warranty I lost all confidence in the car and traded it in for a vx220, from one end of the scale to the other!
The second one i owned was an auto n52 in black for a euro trip we planned (should have bought a 320/330d in hindsight for economy reasons) and that was ... ok. Again nothing special IMO and the straight 6 which is smooth and refined just never begged to be revved or rewarded a spirited drive.
I currently have an e91 320d se and weirdly find it much more rewarding to drive/own!
Don't get me wrong the 330i's are lovely and I'd like to revisit my manual example to maybe change my memory of it but I think they were slightly too refined/numb for me.
