An older Z4 yes or no ? things I should look for please
Discussion
Sorry if this is an old tired question but looking at options for my next daily driver and
the Z4 is a possibility
Only got £4 to 5k max so it will probably be older and with higher mileage
is the 2.5 OK or is the 3.0 any better ?
what things go wrong or what weaknesses should I be a aware of ?
Thanks

Hi Steve
I found the article very useful when I purchased my 2.5 in December.
My car had the rear springs (+ fronts) and roof motor replaced just before I handed over £4,750 for it - I think the springs and roof motors are a common problem on the earlier cars?
3 months into the ownership and I am very pleased with it.
53 plate, 81,000 miles, full service history and the previous owner was an enthusiastic one (car is immaculate):

Superb cars. As I say every time. Had mine (er, Louise's) three years now and it is brilliant. It has been down to Le Mans twice, Switzerland, Alps, Italy, French Riviera, plus an awful lot of very enthusiastic early Sunday morning hooning.
As with anything, buy the best condition you can with the best service history. Oh, and don't leave the roof down overnight in the pouring rain. They don't like that.
And swap the run flats for some proper tyres as soon as you can if it still has them. It handles well anyway, but decent tyres transform it even more.

Just looked at a really nice 3 litre manual Z4
Local to me up for 5k 72000 miles good history
I liked it but there's a slight oil leak on the
Left side of the engine - can't see where its actually
Coming from but it must be getting on the
Exhaust manifold as you can smell it
Anyone got any experience of a similar
Problem ? The seller assures me
Its not serious but he would !
The reg number is EG03 XYL anyone
Know this car from Northwood Middlesex
Cheers

I think they are M3 CSL alloys?
I was after a Honda S2000 but found the Z4 on gumtree and had to have it. Wheels/colour/red leather etc!
Although I am new to Z ownership I would recommend them (especially the 6 cylinder models) - great fun and I think they look better now than when they were launched.
