Hi,

I am considering buying the missus a 2007 E90 330i Convertible. I have previously owned the 330d M Sport
which was a great car but am just wondering if there are any issues with buying a 330i that has done
over 80,000 miles? I just assume the 3.0 litre petrol to be bomb proof but was wondering if there are any
issues with the roof etc at this age?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Nothing bar maintenance items on a similar age e91 when I bought mine.

Only failing of any real significance has been the electronic water pump which was £800. Seemingly a very common fault.

Thanks for the heads up Mr Minion.

Seems like the 330i is the way to go.

I've got a 2008 330i convertible, I've had it 16 months and put 15000 miles on it and it hasn't missed a beat, only issue I've had was a cracked alloy wheel which bmw replaced FOC. It's going in for oil and brake fluid service next week and that'll be the 1st money I'll have spent on it apart from a vehicle inspection service and an MOT...........the roof has no problems either, they do creek slightly on bumpy road surfaces but nothing major.

I'd also get an M Sport if I were you, they look a lot better then standard imo

Thanks for the post A4cab.

Test drove the car (it was an M Sport) tonight and it seemed tight and actually quite smooth and quiet
despite the miles and the Potenza run flats. The missus has a thing for potholes for some reason
and with the MV4 alloys seeming to be a bit of a problem I hope I won't have to shell out for some
new alloys. Unless I go down the route of replacing the run flats but I haven't quite worked out whether
that's a good thing or not due to the safety issue. It's the missus and kid(s) in the car most of the time.

The only reason mine is still on runflats is because it's an AUC and still under warranty, I had to replace the rear tyres a few months ago, I hated the potenza runflats so I went for Goodyear Eagle Assymetric Runflats, they give a much better ride than the Bridgstone Potenza.

If you did buy the car you've looked at, you could always sell the MV4s and buy a set of 18" MV3s, they don't suffer with the cracking issues and the ride isn't bad on runflats either so no problems for the Mrs.

Thanks again that's good advice with the tyres. Interesting about not liking the Potenza's.
At least now if she complains about the ride I can switch to Goodyears. I wish they didn't
have run flats. I've had them on all my BMW's and they've been a pain in the backside on
ride quality and expense.

I have a problem with the MV4's though as I think they look fantastic compared to the MV3's
but maybe a few eye watering bills and grief with them might make me change my mind.

I have an X5 which we need for where we live so it was very nice to be back in a 3 litre M Sport
again. Reckon the missus is going to be wondering why her car keeps disappearing off the driveway
at every given opportunity.

I also have a 2008 330i MSport convertible which I bought earlier in the month. It has 55k on it and is as smooth as ever.

I would check the service history on the car and then ring up each of the garages/dealers where it was serviced in order to ascertain all of the work carried out on it incl warranty repairs and recalls. The N53 is, from what I've heard, a reliable unit but it does have its weakpoints in the form of injectors and coil packs. However if you are looking for one with similar age then I would imagine they were replaced by BMW.

On mine the roof does creak a little when going over large bumps/potholes but its nothing to worry about. I would like it creak-free though but apprently only a few dealers/garages can carry out the work on the roof.

Does anyone know of indys that can carry out any roof work on the E93? Preferably in the North of the country?
Cheers
