I've had my heart set on a 330d for a while, liking the whole performance diesel idea.

What would we say to a 2009 E91 330d at 173k as an ownership proposition?

It's recently had 6 new injectors, a con rod (slightly concerning), egr cooler and glow plugs.

Anyone taken the LCI lump to that sort of mileage before? It is as hardy as the old pre LCI lump?

The car is the perfect spec (pro nav etc), serviced every 10-15k, care to comment on value?

Just been to see the car.

The parts outlined above were changed due to a misfire which got progressively worse. Conrod due to a fault on cylinder 6.

Tidy enough in general, £7k would secure it. £5-6k sounds a little impossible.

My main concern is any issues with high mileage N57 engines. Most haven't got that far yet.

N57 engines up to mid 2010 are not immune to the timing chain problem that affected the N47 engine.

Wouldn't touch it unless I knew who did the rod.

I would say 6k is plenty provided you knew who had done the engine work.

A BMW specialist in Birmingham.

Might be worth a punt - spares or repairs if it sts itself and try to recoup outlay.

Can't really justify £12k-£15k on a 5-6 year old 3 series diesel BMW hence the thread.
