Hi all,

I have been trying to sell my Z4 for the last 8 weeks, with no luck. only one viewing so far. It's the 35i with the twin turbo 3 litre engine virtually all the options in black and I think it's well priced.

I have tried eBay with a classified ad with best offer and auto trader. Not tried pistonheads yet as there was an issue with my account.

Do people not like the Z4 or is it the larger engine

What is the price differential between what a dealer has offered you and your asking price? You need to under cut the AUC cars quite a bit unless your car has some outstanding features that make it desirable.

Whilst we appreciate you cant link to your own ad, can you give us a clue as to how to find the advert? Year of car, miles will probably be enough.

Off the top of my head though - and bearing in mind my wife has a 2012 e89 2.0i turbo and we've been looking around / talking to dealers...

Firstly, the e89 z4 isnt that popular.
Whilst the 35iS is the one everyone "wants", the reality is the ones that people buy are the lower spec engines. Most z4 buyers are happy with the SDrive20i or SDrive18i.

Other than that, its going to come down to price compared to others / main dealer cars, and how long you have to wait to find a buyer....

The only criticism i'd have of the above ad is the location of the pictures. Some pics taken outside in front of your house (unless it's a run down council estate or something) would look a lot better.

The empty underground car park makes it look a bit like a drug-addled rapesquad member is selling it.

I think we should wait on the O/P coming back. That car isnt on ebay and theres a dozen cars that it "might" be.

Or he's got to wait for the heroin to wear off before he can type coherently.

The pictures are in an odd location certainly but in general the rule is that if a car isn't attracting offers then it's price is too high.

You could try again with some pictures taken outside your house in the sunshine but the only way to guarantee you'll get offers is to drop the price.

The fact you mention 4.9 secs to 60 and launch control - twice- might be a wee bit scary when combined with the layer cake style pics and black on black colour scheme

There's also a manual with 30k on at less money of course as well as some well priced bmw dealer cars that are near comparators.

Without even seeing the advert or car it'll be price, everything will sell when priced to do so.

Interestingly (or not) we are considering a Z4 and I had actually looked at your car a week or two ago but dismissed it because it felt "dodgy" based on the pics.

Why don't you post it on the z4 forum? I know there is someone looking for a car like this...

Price isnt great. You can buy one from a franchised dealers with half the miles and with a full Approved Used warranty for a few hundred more

As has been said, pic location makes the car look a bit dodgy. In your driveway might be a better bet.

Also, it reads like a trade advert, which combined with the pic location could make people think you're a trader masquerading as a private seller.

Put in wording like "i've owned this car since 2012 and it has had one previous owner since new" and i'd cut down on the fully detailed spec list - maybe just have the main upgrades?

Also, this one looks a lot better with lower miles, privately for the same price.

I dont think the artificial lighting does yours any favours.

Its dropped to about a third of its full retail price after six years. Sounds about right?
