Chill, its only a forum. And remember to use the space bar after full stops and commas! :P
This from a bloke who starts a sentence with .... And smile
smile toshay and totally off topic now!

So which is rarer, F10 550i or F13 650i?
6 I would imagine. Especially in GC form
I think GC's have outsold coupes by a considerable margin, though this may not be true for the small number of petrols out there. I don't think I've ever seen an F13 650i or indeed an M6 on the roads, but loads of 640d.

I'd love a 650i GC although I expect M6 GC will be easier to find used.

Maybe I just cant grasp the concept but I would rather have the 550i you have than a 650i Gran Coupe because to me a Coupe should just be a Coupe and have two doors and I love the look of our 640d Coupe, but I just don't understand the Gran Coupe because surely if you want four doors you just buy a 5 series or 7 series if you want more space instead.

Hows that gizlaroc, why dont you just let it be? Cant you just do that its not hard.
Edited that for you wink

I have a 640d GC, a Z4 35i and an Aston - so big diesel, turbo petrol and v8 lump. All very different in character and on any given day any one of them will appeal most. I can't generalise for myself let alone impose a belief that one is best on someone else.

You sound like me! I did think that until had a really good look over one at the dealer recently (not to buy, but just looking). They do look absolutely stunning. But I think on balance I'd have the coupe. I think. Or maybe the GC. Hmm. smile

Very nice car OP.

Coupe to GranCoupe is currently 50/50 but the Coupe was out 2 years before the GC.

I've got a Coupe and really like it.

It's just a nicer looking 5-series surely? The appeal is that they are blimmin' lovely looking AND offer 4 doors. wink Not saying the F10 isn't good looking, mind.

I think my view is maybe too narrow minded and the good thing is BMW do give the punter lots of different buying options, I kept looking at the 6 GC on that ordinary lies TV programme and kept thinking how good it looked!

The 6 Coupe is tiny inside both front and rear when you consider the outside dimensions so the GC does make a lot of sense if you want to actually use the rear seats from time to time and its longer too so a little bit more room.

Agree they do seem nowadays to make this four door Coupe shape look really good...still think it should really just be a two door though!!

The 5-series is roomier by all accounts - I have a family of 5 and as much as I like the look of the 6GC it would be too compromised in the practical stakes.

Shame as the interior is lovely.

I heard a fantastic, subdued growl this morning and looked over to see a current 650i, the first I've seen. I recalled trying to outrun a F10 SE in my old E92 330d, I thought it was just a 520d with in beige with small wheels until I was soon behind it and read .. 5 5 0 i paperbag

I'm trying to ignore the existence of the 550i completely - cannot help but think I would love having one but might regret all the visits to the petrol station - good job there aren't any F11 550i's (at least not that i have ever seen) or my resolve would be severely tested - as the mpg on the Subaru 3.0 Outback isn't making me bankrupt, though my annual mileage might be going up in the next few months (about 15k pa at the moment)

I have an E61 550i so the naturally aspirated 4.8, not the 4.4 turbo in the F11. However if it helps, from the research I briefly did when considering the 3.0 Subaru Legacy/Outback, was that the mpg on the V8 BMW is similar or better than that of the Subaru.

...happy shopping! hehe

I was going to say - the Subaru isn't known for its economy. laugh In fact, its what made me pick the 330i over the Legacy 3.0R

F11 MPG is going to be much the same as the E61 although I get the impression that the newer car is better around town, it gets into 7th or 8th and sits at 1000rpm if it can.

My F10 still needs to loosen up a bit I think, but the average came down from an indicated 31 on the trip home and seems to have settled at 24.6 (running around town, no long trips).

I really need to sort the exhaust out though. It really is far too quiet. See this for example of stock (vs Eisenmann), at about 1m02s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GYctlIbpiU
