Hi all,

ive come across a cracking contract hire deal on a brand new 330d M Sport, with the business media package.

regarding optional extras I'm trying not to go bananas on the spec due to the big jump in monthly rates, but i know i definitely want the Bi Xenons and heated leather (surprised both are not standard on an M Sport 330d, they are on a 420d GC!?).

my question firstly, has anyone any experience with the visual pack? from what i understand it is the fancy high beam assist. I've done a bit of snooping on the beemer forums and it is apparently a very sophisticated system as opposed to what was originally found in older BMs but I'm unsure its worth the extra 300 odd notes.

secondly, and not quite an absolute requirement, but I've seen some 3 series with the Performance Pack which i really like- from what i can see this is optional 19''' wheels, M sport callipers and more aggressive bumpers. I can't see this on the optional extras for any 330d lease speccers though, only an 'M Sport Plus' pack, which I'm unsure is the same thing.

lastly, are there any other options worth considering? how are the standard speakers in the 3?

appreciate all your advice.

The M Sport Plus pack is very worthwhile on the 3 series (it is the F30 by the way, the F10 being the 5 series). It includes xenons, Harman Kardon sound (which is much better than the standard kit), plus larger brakes, tinted rear windows and 19" wheels. The M Sport bumpers are not part of this, they just come with the 330d M Sport.

When you buy the M Sport Plus pack, the Visibility Pack costs very little and is well worth it.

Heated leather is an odd omission from standard as you say. There are plenty of other options you could consider, but you may not wish to. My own order of preference would be pro media, heated steering wheel, head up display, reversing camera, folding mirrors, merino leather. It all depends what is important to you.

Do bear in mind that from June production, it should be the (mild) facelift model.

For me I wouldn't worry about the heated seats.
I have them on mine and doubt they will ever get used.

However, if you can spec the merino leather. It's beautifully soft and much much nicer than the standard.

The high beam assist looks brilliant from the marketing videos (splits the beams and turns one side off etc). If it's anything like they say it is I reckon it's well worth the extra money.

Can you share where you got the lease deal. I fancy a 330d Touring with a similar spec to you

I have a 2009 335i, bought used, so maybe things have changed but...

I agree on heated seats, fantastic. Agree on Xenons although these were standard on mine. Don't value high beam assistant, used it once and it was slower to react than I was. However, if you regularly drive long distances on unlit roads it might be worth it.

Not sure if it's standard on your prospective car, but I find comfort access really useful.

I was surprised how much I like sunroof, particularly tilt on cold days but when sun is strong

I have an individual audio system, sounds like I have the band with me. I think it's excellent and I'm not a music fan biggrin those who have heard it and own BMWs do say it's vastly superior to standard.

I had never had heated seats till now and think they are great, the only problem is it made me realise how cold the steering wheel is in the winter.
Plus a couple of weeks ago had the"grand opening" of the sunroof.Allways my first option ,when not in use makes the cabin so much brighter and a far better place to be.

Have the panoramic sunroof on my 320D M Sport Touring and it makes what is a very dark interior (due to black leather seats, black headlining and tinted windows) a lot brighter. With the nice weather over the last few weeks has been nice to just open the roof rather than having the AC on all the time.

Also have the M Sport Plus pack. The HK speaker system is stunning; although not really had the opportunity to compare against the standard one. Still trying to work out where the 16 speakers are, can only find 11 at the moment but there are definitely some bass ones tucked away out of view somewhere. My kids just want to listen to the George Ezra song 'Breakaway' all the time as bass sounds amazing. Xenons are good. 19 inch alloys look good but didn't appreciate how expensive the rear tyres are when I bought the car.

The comfort pack (think what it is called) is okay, with folding rear head rests, extended lighting, etc is good but not sure I would have paid too much more for it.

Pro Navigation system with the connected services is also very good. Keep finding new things as I play with the system. Last night found out that when you have set the destination, you can load the Google Streetview to see what the actual address looks like before you head off.

I have a 320d m sport plus x drive at the mo, so can comment on the plus pack. HK sound is excellent, not a hifi geek but sounds great to me. Brake upgrade with blue calipers look fantastic and the braking is excellent. Now the 19 inch alloys, the jury is out for me on these. Some days they look great and then fron other angles, rear in particular they look a bit to big. Aesthetics aside, they tramline like f*** and I really get frustrated by this. Yep I get that the roads by me are frost damaged but under braking the car can be difficult to place accurately and at times ruins the experience for me. If I had the choice I would ditch them for 18", just not sure if the smaller wheels will fit the upgrade brakes.
Xenon head lights. Some days they are powerful and sharp and other times, rain, low light they appear a bit weak. My previous Mazda 6 lights were if you pardon the pun, light years ahead of the BM. The best part of the xenon light for me are that they double as the daytime runners so they look very smart.
Agree with comments around the pronav, very clever. The other lower spec nav's are a bit low rent by comparison.
Hope this helps. My car is the best and most disappointing car I have had. I could go on for a long time about it but thats for another day. I will spec the next one very carefully and it will definitely have a 6 cylinder engine.

Hi all,

Since this thread (and the 330d I was opting for) ive actually found a much much better deal on a 420d Gran Coupe M Sport with Pro Nav- From my local (ish) BMW Dealer!

They are currently on offer and are almost half the asking price they where Christmas time on 23+6 with 10k. I've opted for the standard M Sport car as it comes with everything I want really, heated leathers, Pro Nav with 10 speakers and Bi Xenons. Gone for Alpine white with a very brave decision of Ivory leather too, the coral red looked a bit gloomy at the dealers in their 435. Didn't bother with the M Sport + pack of 19's and coloured callipers, although it does look really nice!

Delivery is expected in August, will wait for September to reg it on a '65.

Thanks for your input!
