Thanks I was trying to find a boot liner that protects the sides and back of the rare seats as well incase I have to shoe horn a dog in there in a hurry but not seen anything with a good review.
Can certainly live without the options I mentioned and does not detract from the car just would have been nice to have.
It really is a vehicle that prefers the open roads and countryside rather than the towns tho as I find it has the same driving issue as all big 4x4's in that they are about as enjoyable as pulling teeth when lurching from one traffic light to the next, which I won't be doing much so no issues there.

Congratulatins on the new motor.
Afraid that BMW only did the plastic boot protectors which sit in the boot floor rather than protect the rear of the bench or sides, but worth getting nonetheless. The original owner of mine had it in from new so the rear looks timewharp new for a 4.5yr old car.
Re: Business HiFi, I had this on my pre LCI and it was acceptable, but nothing more. The current car had no upgrade and was dire. In January this year I took mine into Gary at AudioFile in Bishops Stortford and 24hrs later collected a car which I barely recognised (HiFi-wise). He'd completely transformed it into an Audiophile's dream for £1.4k. Sure, not cheap and can be done cheaper without time alignment but I'd highly recommend his services for not only a professional and OEM look install (can't tell visually that anythings been done without spotting the sub control dial tucked away in on the transmission tunnel in the coin holder) but also a very friendly and we'll run outfit. He also has an E70 demo car which help persuade me too!

In any event, whatever you do, enjoy the car.

You won't find a better roof system than the Thule system...buy yhr bars and then fit whatever you want to it. I have a pretty bloody big roof box and can also get two bikes racks on if I wanted...reality is that I use ti with the roof box for the winter ski trips and the cycle racks in the summer. Bars come on and off in minutes.
The brakes may be fine, depending on how the car has been driven.
The BMW warning system works off mileage up to the point that the sensor is reached. I drive mainly motorway miles which register on the system but don't wear the brakes much. I've often asked BMW to change the brakes when in for a service and registering only 3k miles left of wear and been told that they are still less than half worn (imagine that - a dealer telling you that you don't need work doing....). Once it gets down to about 2k miles, the mileage outstanding starts to go up a little.

The post about roof racks above reminded me that my only disappointment is that unless you buy the BMW system (which from memory costs a fortune) most bike racks don't seem to fit the back of the X5 without risk of marking it.... I'm not sure I want to put bikes on the roof (although obviously people do it, just not something I'm sure about doing).
