How does M135i compare to 125i / 125d?

so to get 36mpg is excellant...I reckon my old 120d auto would only be around 5/7 mpg better in that scenario.
With all this talk of M135i mpg, I thought I'd add that after filling up last night, I drove in fairly heavy traffic to and from my son's nursery. Then I drove to work this morning on fairly quiet roads, with a few overtakes thrown in and my current mpg according to the display is 19.6mpg.

I think thats sleightly unfair,there has to be a cut off re Fuel costs( yes I know about depreciation etc) and some may do 20k miles a year and are looking for reasons to have a punt..that 19mpg would keep me well away I do 25k,,,but I once did 20 miles around N circular london and got 21mpg in that 120d autoNever understood those who buy these and then brag about saving 50 pence on fuel for basically dawdling along in traffic.
I'm coming up for 25000 miles in mine, in just over a year. The M135i really get under your skin. It's the first car ever, where I'm seriously considering getting the same model again. I just cannot think of anything else that can replace it. It just does everything so well.
Average fuel economy has been around 31mpg. Fantastic really for the performance on offer.
This was on a 'bombing run' back home from the french alps. It's surprisingly difficult to average 70mph. Off there again in a few weeks, so will try again. :-)

Great - "must do better" springs to mind!!Managed 70 ish average in my Z4 on the M40 a couple of weeks ago - all went pear-shaped as soon as I got to the M42/M5/M6! (need a Midlands by-pass - not a destination after all, just somewhere you need to get past at all costs)!!
I had an auto M135i for just under two years and really enjoyed my time with it. Over that period of time it averaged 31mpg. On a sedate run from Sheffield to London it can deliver 38 mpg. Aggressive runs down B roads will see 18 mpg... My only regret in that time was not specifying h/k sound. The 'business' stereo upgrade is pants. Still, the straight six makes up for it as does the 'whoompf' sound on the up shift.
Bit late to the thread but the MPG can vary massively depending on what type of driving you do.
For all the chaps who get 30-33mpg, there are many more who get nowhere near it! I have done 25,000 in mine and have averaged 26mpg. The highest I have seen is 35.6 over a 240mile Motorway trip - and I was very careful with the throttle and sat at a constant speed. Lowest I have seen is 16mpg over a very fast 70mile trip....
If you do a lot of start/stop or you like to push on a little bit it will easily drop below 30.
If you want a car that averages 37mpg then the M135i is not for you, as you will not get to experience any of the fun that can be had if you drive that slow!
Id go for the 125d or the M135i - I think the 125i is a bit meh and stuck in the middle. On the road there is no great difference between the 125d and 125i performance wise but the 125d will return much better MPG.

Eco Pro works at whatever speed you want it to. You just have to turn the Eco-pro speed limit off in the settings.

These are the stats from a journey I have just done in my 125d...This was with me really pushing the engine whenever there was a break in the traffic. I think if you kept it in Eco Pro at 70mph on cruise control, you'd easily get 55-60mpg. Unfortunately I do not know how to drive like that.

Unless you don't need the added stuff that comes as std on the M135i (4 piston brembos, Mich PSS, leather, etc etc) then the actual difference in price is very small with the M135i, particularly as depreciation on the stuff you would have to add as options on the 4-pot will depreciate much quicker.
All this talk of economy on long runs in theM135i - can people confirm if it's in the auto or the manual?
My wife has a 120d with the auto box and the economy is great in 8th gear on a run, but not really representative of everyday commuting.
Half considering chopping the M3 in for a 135i for a bit as the running costs will be massively less - has anyone got the optional LSD? and is the turbo lag quite apparent in the manual?

That shouldn't be possible - more user driven results. The 8 speed auto has far taller gearing than the 6speed so if the auto driver was in 8th on the m way he would be achieving much better mpg than the stick shifter.

They are not ~60mpg and ~40mpg cars respectively despite the claims. I should think the M135i driven like the 125i will not be considerably heavier on fuel.

Average mpg over a year tends to rely on more than just motorway use, if any at all. There are other parameters at play too, think of the losses through the torque converter for instance.
