2000 540i advice please

Does anyone have one of these?

I've got my eye on a nice one with step auto gearbox.

All the history is good, looks great...

Anything to watch out for?

Any real world experience with running costs / repairs?

I've got one a 2003 sport...had it nearly 2 years now

Main points of weakness mine has had all bits sorted over the last 3 years:

Autobox (I've had mine rebuilt)
Cooling system (water pump normally culprit but best getting all done)
Alternator
FSR (hedgehog)
Suspension (wears out every 80-120k)
Rust - rear wings above side bumper, fuel cap (mine is good here), tailgate by the lights
Dash pixels
Sat nav system and auto changer can play up
