Off topic from my previous post re my 4 series order...

I'm torn between the 430d and the 435d now.

To give it some perspective, it's on the Alphadrive deal, so the figures are approx. £420 pcm on a 20k miles contract for the 430d and around £450pcm for the same deal on the 435d. Both are X-Drive as there are no S-Drive available.

On the face of it, £30 a month doesn't bother me and the change in overall pace doesn't make too much difference but what about the general feel of them?

Is there much of a change in MPG?

I don't NEED the extra speed and I won't miss £30 and a few £ on extra fuel but I'm just trying to establish whether it's worth it.

Local dealer doesn't have both to drive in this or the 3 series.

35d. Both good but the extra oomph is well worth £30 a month.

Not driven the newer generation engine but I think you've more or less answerd your own question.

If you'll not miss £30 a month then why wouldn't you!?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the performance of the 30d at all, I am never finding myself wanting more. However the irritating dead zone before the turbo kicks in can be frustrating at times and I believe the twin turbo setup of the 35d eliminates this.

So yea, get a 35d.

I find it particularly annoying when doing things like slowing for a very tight bend and then powering out the other side.

OK, 435d it is...

442m 19" alloys, Alpine White and Coral Dakota leather.

Gives me everything I need. Can't see me needing any additional spec?

You appear to have forgotten to spec paint?

I didn't know that.

Is that because of the X-Drive?

Yes, rides 10mm higher than an non xdrive Msport even with the optional M adaptive suspension, loads of knowledge and opinion from owners on here:

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?...

Many have swapped to ACS springs because of the handling and ride height.

I had an xdrive 335d on standard suspension it was OK but not sporty at all.

Also consider the M Sport + pack (better brakes/xenons/HK sound etc...)

Yes .....get the Adaptive whatever you do!!! Then spend around £650 on AC Schnitzer springs and you have the perfect car.

Come on Fox , The derv haters make me laugh,I went down to Brighton and back to west london mostly 70mph showed 52 mpg. while in Sport I could take most cars.

I passed anAudi RS5 in the middle lane and thought you never see tasty cars on the outside lane ,guess they are looking at the OBC,

There's certainly not many cars on the road that can touch it in terms of pace and to still get 50+ mpg on a steady run, it's pretty impressive.

I'm often seen clearing the outside lane of the A1 tongue out

Well, apart from the horrendous din from under the bonnet and lack of refinement I'm sure it's bloody ace.
