I have a late 2009 x5 35d. It has the later hard drive nav and audio storage but the 6 speed auto, so around the time of the lci changes. When I move the gear selector from P to D or R, there is a noise which sounds like an electric motor 'whirr'. This only lasts a split second. If I move from either R or D into neutral, there is no noise.

Gearbox is fine, no issues. Car has done 49k and has always made this noise in my ownership. Is this normal ? Can is still under AUC, so if needs be will take it in, but would welcome any information, before doing so.

Both of my Boss's X5s (which he had since new) made a whirr noise when going from Drive to Reverse and vice versa.
