Home charging an i8 ?

Does anyone have any advice please on an alternative home charging system for and i8 BMW. I've not had much luck with BMW's contractor, and really just want to get the job done, i.e. buy a charger and get a local electrician to install it . It seems BMW won't sell their charging box to the public, so are there any recommended alternatives please ?

Although I have no direct experience of the i8, or BMW's Warranty service, I would be extremely reluctant to use non OEM kit on such new technology as I could see it being an easy excuse for BMW to decline warranty repairs, or contribution to costs. It might be worth speaking to BMW UK to get this escalated.

A friend has a Chargemaster courtesy of the grant but as noted above the mains unit works fine
