Mine is e60 lci 525d which is 3.0 l diesel auto. Found some posts which say that there is swirl flaps which need to take out, some say that it is spared. Who to believe to? smile

''M47 engine(136bhp non common rail vp44 injection pump) DO NOT HAVE swirl flaps

M47N common rail engine (including M47N/M47TU/M47TUD20)(150bhp face lift model August-September 2001 onwards) has flaps

M57 engines(M57D)(525d & 187bhp 330d) have no swirl flaps on the manual cars BUT AUTOMATICS DO

M57N engines(M57TUD)(525d & 330d 204bhp) have swirl flaps both manual and automatics

BMW 4 cylinders M47 diesels post late 2008 early 2009 are not fitted with swirl flaps anymore, to check your car enter your car chassis number into realoem.com and check your specification, also 6 cylinder N57 diesel engines have a flap control but this is an inline system and not a swirl flap system..''

Yes but realoem say: "intake manifold without flap control" - so it means that there is no swirl flaps right?
But there i cant choose manual or auto for that spec.. Any ideas?

You sure that is not a revised manifold though? So if you buy a replacement it now comes with no flaps?

Why not have a look?

PM me your reg, I'll check the wiring diagram, see if there is swirl flap control.

That's not an engine code, it's a chassis number.

Your engine is a M57N2, and your build date is April 2007 not May.

RealOEM lists your engine as being without flaps.

Thanks. Is realOEM 100% reliable for this case?
But m57n2 as engine has modifications and they all are not completly same right?

I'd expect so.

But if you're really that worried, put your hand in your pocket and get a garage to check if you're not able to do it yourself.
