What should I be paying for a first service and what needs to be done? Car has covered about 15000 miles.

I have been quoted £367 by the local dealer, who promptly dropped price to £341 when she heard me fall off my chair. I have been told it needs oil and filter change plus microfilter change. Can anyone advise if the microfilter change is essential or just "nice to do".

Cheers for any info.

Before you do anything, check the terms of your lease agreement - the finance company will most likely have stipulated the level of service to be carried out.

It might be worth checking if you have a maintenance as part of your agreement? On a 520d this is usually c. £9 a month so it's quite common to have it included.

Cheers Helicopter,

I have checked terms of lease and also spoken with lease company. They are happy for me to take it to any reputable garage that will use genuine parts. So I will make a cal to Halfords and a couple of local garages tomorrow.

Definitely no maintenance include in lease.

Just for future reference in case anybody else is in the same position at a later date. I got the original BMW dealer down to £286 after phoning around. I am sure I could have got it down further but benefit vs time spent on the phone suggested this was a good place to stop. So this was for oil, oil filter and micro filter(s).

Local Indy garages ummed and ahhed a bit too much for my liking when asked if they could service to BMW specs, using BMW parts etc. Best price that I could extract was around £200.
