Agreed. Ive bought two 550i from BMW. On both occasions I got an extra year of warranty cover which cost around 600 to the dealer but paid the advertised price. There were a lot of enquiries about the car on both occasions and I was lucky to be first to put a deposit down. When buying the latest car I also noticed that very high spec 535 sell within a day or so of advertising (petrol and diesel). I missed a 535d with bang and olufsen - very rare optional extra.

There is a common misconception that dealers "have" to do a deal, and will do so at any price, and that there are fewer good customers than there are good cars to sell.

This is wholly incorrect. Good stock is hard to get, so when they have something nice, they're not going to give it away just because some wise ass says "550i? Nobody wants 'em mate. But i'll do you a favour and take it off your 'ands"

Is my car too expensive at 25k?

I've not had a single enquiry.

I thought it was about right (advertising at 25k with a view to taking 24k) given the 2011 touring went for 30k or just over.

I've dropped the price a bit now so I guess we will see...

My own opinion is that a Touring is a lot more desirable than a saloon. Also remember this car was AUC with dealer facilities, finance etc. 25k is a lot to splash in a private purchase. How long has yours been up?

I think there's a world of difference between ~£20k and ~£25k so it may not need a lot of price adjustment to catch the eye of someone looking around £20k. Good luck with it.

The Touring is so rare it's hard to get much of a steer from that. You need to find a buyer who values the low miles and SE spec to go for yours; you bought it, and IIRC somebody else wanted it as well, so they're out there.

The black high spec 535i Touring seems to have sold quickly, btw.

Only been advertised for a week. I agree that most will prefer to buy from a dealership at this kind of price level though.

Personally I would have been happy with 535i or 550i, but I had to have a touring and I had to have sports seats.

I was looking for 535s but the 550 appeared.

Unfortunately a nice house appeared afterwards.

Bargain barge or old 130i for me next.

It is nice and quite a saving on new but if I had 40k for an F10 I'd probably look at the M5; running costs aren't much more.

The attraction of a F10 550i for me was purchase cost (20-25k) vs an M5 (35+) and when it comes to the E60, purchase cost might be a lot closer but red cogs of death and MPG on the V10 are the deterrent. JMHO.

Of course on the new cars there is no F11 M5, so the 550i touring is the only option.

I think I'd try the F10 535i next time around, with some mods. Lots of tuning options for the N55. Of course Burger do a box for the 550i and I am told it's quite rorty with that fitted!

I do miss the 550i although I miss the E series car more than the F. Did you see the 06 550i SE with 17k miles on eBay? Sold in one day, was up for 10995. I dithered and missed it. Ad is still up.

Now that is a 'unicorn' car - amazing spec

If it was 30k I might be tempted but when brand new run out 535i Tourings can be had for under 40k you would have to want that very badly

I was looking for this thread when this car popped up earlier! This car is wayyyyy overpriced compared to the original one in this thread which was priced at 31k when it was 4 years old in 2015.

This car is 7 years old! It should be 27k tops.

And just as a reminder. My E61 550i was bought at 6 years old for 13k.

You can order a brand new G31 (new model) 540i xDrive Touring for £41,600 from broker4cars so in my opinion you'd be mad to pay anywhere close to that for an F11.

Was it 36k when it was listed? Sytner now have it at 35k.

Interestingly in the advert they say the full RRP is £85, 845!

On a side note they have "Similar cars for sale..." linked is a 2017 F11 520D... from only £769 a month. Bargain!

I cannot imagine why anyone would buy that at anything close to that price. It's a fantastic car - all F10/F11 are - but the 550i isn't an M5 and simply isn't special enough to command bonkers money for a 7 year old example. It's just a normal F11 M Sport with a powerful engine.

Perhaps £25k for somebody who really, really wanted a 550i but even that seems steep.

I agree, well over priced considering its age.

35 grand! Hilarious. It's not even a great colour. A fantastic car no doubt, and something that would appeal to me at the right price, but no one is going to pay that much for it. That engine is not without its issues either.
