It's standard, easily replaced with gloss black or aluminium.

I happen to like it myself.

I am in the market for a new family car having had our X5 nicked. I have 35K cash to spend. If it was up to me I'd be all over this beast like a cheap suit but my wife hates estates and wants another 4x4. Annoying.

The "wood" trim looks awful! I wonder why anyone would want to spec that?
Because it looks fantastic and makes the interior a really nice place to be. I have it on mine - I sought it out specifically and it's a nice change from the cold ubiquitous naff aluminium everyone seems to want.

I've got a nice looking dark wood in my E61 550i, I'd love a swap for the aluminium stuff.

I like the wood but it makes the interior pretty dull, the ally would brighten it up a bit.

A decent bodyshop will pop off all interior wood trim and paint to a colour of your choice.

I had my wood trim repainted to piano black as a condition of sale with a main dealer.

That is a real shame because the wood trim is quite hard to find on the F11/F10 and the Piano Black is the standard fit trim on an SE model! You could probably have sold the wood and picked up a set of black quite easily.

Have you seen that cubit ally stuff in an E60? Looks cheap in a 5 series imo. And I've got form for swapping wood for ally (R32 trim in my Bora).

I wasn't referring to that model specifically, but to BMWs in general, in my case just a little 130i for the OH so not really fussed about painting over the trim...

Ditto! I've got the exact same interior and exterior as that car and I specced it from new smile

Lovely interior, mines a little dark.

Why is your steering wheel fitted in the wrong location, where you located, or is the pic a generic image?

That 550i sold pretty quickly then. There's a high spec 535i Touring which has appeared, for anyone who missed out: http://proctorcars.co.uk/listings/2011-bmw-535i-m-...

2011 but a sensible mileage and some rarer options (HUD, panoramic sunroof, surround view, 4-zone climate). The ad refers to park assist, but I'm not sure if that's just a description of the lines on the rear view camera.

The ride height is higher than my car so it either has adaptive or M-Sport delete suspension, though neither are mentioned in the ad.

21k eh! I think that's serious value at that money. Half tempted myself... terrible advert though, zero detail of the important things that matter.

Cheap but misses out on RTTI (I assume, based on the reg date) and no BMW warranty. I don't think it'll be around long though.

How can it not have RTTI? My E61 has it via FM signals I think.

Your E61 will have TMC; RTTI was on F10/F11s with pro nav built from around July 2012 and shows the state of traffic like google maps, with green/yellow/orange/red lines. Need to activate Connected Drive for it to work.

Here's what it looks like on a 2012 car; I've been spoilt by a courtesy 520D GT last week because you can show it on the normal map display, not just the grey background, on the latest models.

I see, cheers. So you either have the good modern stuff or no stuff at all. That's progress! Out of curiosity how does the car get the data? (I'm such a luddite).
