There is a couple levels of cover - COmprehensive, Named COmponent, Driveline - all three seem to cover turbos

Thanks for that ,interesting ,wonder what a poll of forumers on which to go for would produce ,any ideas on cost differentials?

Interesting - would their computer not show that I'd just tried the same warranty repair at another dealer?
Don't know tbh but it's worth a punt as what's the worst they can do other than say no?

Update - the dealer customer service manager made another request to BMW, possibly via his regional manager, after I wrote a detailed email expressing my dissatisfaction, and they have now agreed to meet all the costs and carry out the repair.
Shout out to David at Spire BMW Ruislip.

To add my tuppence worth... I purchased a comprehensive BMW Insured Warrant from Allianz/Mondial with £100 XS for my 2004 645Ci with 55,000 miles.

They have so far replaced the rocker cover gasket, o/s wheel bearing, reset the idrive (useless), replaced the boot struts which failed to spring up and pop the boot open.

They didn't replace the indicator stalk - the check button was loose and buzzed irritatingly whilst driving. Eventually, I complained and they covered the cost of the part and I paid for the labour.

To date, Cooper Cobham have been helpful and I would say that the £931 that I paid for the lapsed policy (and the excellent BMW Emergency Cover) has been extremely cost effective and worthwhile.

I've just paid to extend the warranty on my E 89 zed 4 as I've just had a major ecu replaced under AUC warranty.
Taken a gamble on paying out now as I reckon funding an ecu would outweigh the warranty.
Mine also Includes breakdown and home start.
