On Autotrader, dark grey with <100k miles - directly linking is against the rules but that should identify it...

No private cars listed?

Edit: Oh, the 545i SE?

It's the 550i Sports flying off the shelves as far as I'm aware...

Further edit (ad critique):

- Advert reads too generic to me. I'm not sure you've listed the options correctly, for example you state Sports seats when they're not.
- History isn't great after 2012 (no stamp at 84k mileage then random garage after that) - I'd remove that pic
- Clean the carpets!! (It's got no mats)
- Dust the interior, pics make it look mucky
- Take another pic of the bonnet as the one you have is covered in something, I can't tell what

Other than that, sorry to say lack of Professional Media will also hamper the sale somewhat. Has the car got Bluetooth? Again put your chassis number into the Vin checker and list the spec accentuating any positives.

Autotrader said sports seats - I didn't know enough to disagree! I've got the rest of the history, to be honest it felt weird putting up a picture of a service book with only one stamp on the page but in hindsight needed to be there to prove it got done. Pro Media may well turn out to be a problem, but definitely has Bluetooth.

Will try and get some better photos at the weekend. Thank you! smile

HR gives a good summary.

Very similar spec to mine (SE, Business, Bluetooth) but I paid only a few hundred more last year, from a trader with over 20k less miles. Ok, I then change the 'box oil and added a stainless exhaust but I don't expect to get that money back in a sale (not any time soon).

I still haven't hit 80k (sad, I know).

Anyway, I think £6k may be a reasonable jumping off point but you're close to the 100k 'barrier' that buyers seem to worry about. If you want it sold, maybe try £5,750 to get it closer to the price of the couple of other higher mile cars that come up in the search? Then just don't take an offer? Advertise your best and lowest price then refuse to haggle more than a couple of quid if anyone tests?

It's difficult when there's a 39000 mile 545 on PH at the moment for £6000....

Yeah - that low mileage one seems odd as it has a good spec (pan sunroof, pro nav etc) but a couple of faults.

That would be worth well over £7k to me if it had the service and the fault lights checked. It's a bit late now I have mine.

There is also this one with 76k, which is quite similar to the previous:

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...

It's also £6k.

I'd say the last one was priced right if it needs nothing... The low miles one probably needs a bit of work that might add up.

A car approaching 100k needs to be below £6k, I reckon, at the moment.

Mine I will most likely keep forever, unless I am forced to sell.

Not bad examples those, in that budget.

Obviously being SE, inferior engine and gearbox combination marks them down pricewise... wink Also must say I'm not keen on the grey leather - on older cars it always seems to look grubby? Also dynamic drive fault could get expensive quickly...

I'd imagine a proper engine'd Sport would command a hefty premium over these cars **cough**. And The Good Lord only knows how much a proper driver's gearbox would add scratchchin

hehe

You keep adding bait to that line, the fish ain't biting! wink

Yeah, my guess is that it is an expensive fault to rectify and when you add in the service, that becomes an over £7k car, which sounds like the correct price. I wouldn't be man enough to take the risk though, I reckon.

The second one does seem like a nice example. My black leather looks like Hiroshima after a year of being Bella-d in our British weather.

That's part of the reason I think it's a life keeper... It's behaving well and 'cleaning it up' for sale would cost a fortune in steam cleaning equipment!

That 39k miler looks a potential bargain even at the asking price. It even has exclusive nappa leather (which extends onto the centre console edges) - that's by far the nicest hide available on the E61. Does look like it's missing seat heating mind you.

Just keep it simple. Why have a 545 when you can have a 550?

The 545i is the more 'executive' choice. The connoisseur's choice.

It oozes class and sophistication.

It has the subtlety of a true gentleman.

550i owners simply wouldn't understand. Boorish oiks!

Well mine is now reporting a level control fault.

There seems to be no malfunction of the suspension and it keeps resetting and then faulting again.

A new compressor was fitted about 18 months ago.

And, it does appear to be related to the weather conditions, i.e. it faults in the rain.

Any suggestions?

I know I need togged the codes read but am struggling to get to the garage at the moment.

thanks

Was the relay changed at the same time as the compressor?

Have you had the boot floor up to check for water ingress?

Water leaking to electronics in the boot due to blocked rain gutter? Quiet common, apparently. Stop it before it gets expensive!

Thanks will have a look later.

How do you unblock a rain gutter?

Poke it with a stick, or cut off the bottom. I take it you've got the Pano roof?

There are guides on the internet if you google them.

Your first task is to get the floor up though and check for water.

So the boot has been emptied and all the gubbings removed.

..........

And it is as dry as a bone.

I wonder if I should change the relay as a matter of course and get the codes read?

The relay should of been changed with compressor really depending on where you got it from?

As should the solenoid valve, it's generally the solenoid valve that causes issues, my suspension was all over the place and the valve fixed mine, it's the only thing reaponsibe for air distribution side to side, it gets its info from the sensors. The pump is 'dumb' as long as it turns on and off that bit is working fine it's the other cheaper bits that are attached to it.

I've had a new solenoid valve, and replaced the seized links too on mine for over a year now and I've not had one issue with it. Works flawlessly.
