Heh... I did look for that afterwards, but it shows up as full price for me. The existing plugs have at least 48k miles left, according to idrive.
Sounds like a good price, compared to the one linked. Are you down South, like me? I never get the plugs and oil deal, hence buying my own plugs!
Speaking from recent and personal experience, I do not think these cars are depreciating. That is based on me buying from a dealer and selling privately 3 years later. I did sell my car for less than I paid for it but I think the delta was probably what one would expect vis a vis dealer versus private. £12,500 is a very good price for that car mileage notwithstanding in my opinion. Personally I would rather buy a 1 owner car with 130000 on the clock than a 5 owner car with 100000 on the clock, that might just be me though. I genuinely do not think much value will be lost over the next few years - these cars are desirable to a few, but those who want them REALLY want them. I think I'm talking myself into looking for another now........ Damn it.

I only posted that 2009 550i to get someone else to buy it before I do.Another one... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...
I bought jboy72's 550i SE at the end of July - he made me sign a buy back clause! I was motivated by the fact that it seems like this would be my last chance to have a family car with this kind of engine.
At the time I also looked at another (see a page or two back) at a garage on at £10k (and just under 100k, I think), but it had a bodged bumper repair and not much in the way of history - didn't seem like a great deal compared to what you might hope for for that money, especially as I had just been reading up on philmots' car which had just sold. I think that one still sold fairly quickly though - it did drive alright.
Although mine has now done 147k it's in pretty good nick, at least according to my local specialist. I've had a rear knuckle joint and an anti-roll bar link replaced, and the sunroof seal needs changing (drains are clear but under heavy rain just too much water can get through. Only problem is the sunroof sticks in the tilt position, which makes replacing the seal - which involves a reset procedure - a bit of a gamble). There's one or two other things I will try and get done on it but am generally very pleased with it.

So, if the first LCI posted is £5k-ish more than the one on AT, is the one on AT a bargain?
Not so different cars with not so different mileages (the cheaper car being lower in miles)...
I'm not slagging off the car with 130k+, I just think they're asking VERY strong money. It'll get snapped up if people disagree and hopefully we'll have a newbie join us here and we will get to share their tales of a brilliant, rare car
I certainly don't want to talk down e61 V8 values

Is it the rear panel sticking? I had exactly that on my second 545i Touring. I told the trader selling it not to fix it (I knew he'd knock a fair bit off, and I didn't want him bodging it). There are two wedge-shaped pieces in the mechanism which you can cut or dremel off, leaving the rear panel immobile but restoring the front panel to full working order: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?s=...I do recall having a bit of fun trying to get the rear panel into the right position afterwards, though, but once there it was fine.

That's been up for a while, looks like it's showing its mileage in the seats and scratches. I bought jboy72's 550i SE at the end of July - he made me sign a buy back clause! I was motivated by the fact that it seems like this would be my last chance to have a family car with this kind of engine.

Got my 545 saloon back in Feb for 5300, reckon it's down to 4k now. Hope it doesn't go much lower as I would like to get into a touring without too much cost to change.

Yes, I think so. I'd be quite happy for the rear to be immobilised, as long as I can get the new seal on as well. I need to either get the BMW indy to have a bash at it (could get expensive, if they have to fiddle with it forever) or pick a dry day and try to do it myself.
Apparently the replacement seals are thicker than the originals and need coding to avoid the sunroof getting stuck again. However other people seem to have replaced the seal without doing that.
Would you?

Bit leggy, but under £6k and a pano roof

Just spent the last four days on-and-off reading this entire thread. Fascinating stuff
These N62 motors do appear to be rather high maintenance with the valve stem seals, water pipe, coolant pipe problems etc, but like most things in life you get what you pay for... and I'm more than happy to chuck some coin at maintaining one of these awesome engines
What sold it for me was my friend's 2008 X5 4.8 V8 and how well it hauled a$$ for such a fat unit. I must have that engine in an E60 saloon or 650i coupe

Heard from the guy who bought mine. He's not quite getting on with it apparently so it seems like it will be coming back up for sale soon, keep your eye on the various classifieds.
It's no longer yours, HT, so there is no reason why you can't post the links up here When he says 'not getting on with it'; what is it that he doesn't like?

He's not sent me any links or anything but he'll be using my advert text I think (it's what he was asking me for). As I say, keep your eye out across the usual channels.

Not sure really, just mentioned it was a bit of an impulse buy. At the time he said he wanted something quick and manual, which is what it is to be fair. Who knows.

Contact him and tell him to give us a first refusal. Its worth a post here. We dont need a full ad. Surely the old ad is somewhere in the internet anyway. He's not sent me any links or anything but he'll be using my advert text I think (it's what he was asking me for).
