Mine sold in 4 days.
I think you got lucky.
I think I bought a car with the right gearbox tongue out
Now what HT - switching to the wrong gearbox?

Well, its LCI with the Sport automatic transmission including paddles... ok it's no manual but it's a vast improvement on the aged slushtronic...

Is the gearbox different?

The auto are the best gearboxes for the car, hence why most are auto. It's just when they get older people get scared of the potential bork factor of the auto, bar a few die hard manual fans.

I think it's because the majority are bought new by middle aged middle managers who want to bimble about in their executive waftmobile. Only a tiny few are bought by keen drivers.

No, same 6-sp ZF from the earliest 545i to the last E61. Different software and obviously a different shifter with the LCI.

The Full service includes plugs for the 550i and it is still way too cheap at £232. I think the parts for this are more than £232.

I posted this on 28th January. Today it looks like this -

I think it was some kind of system pricing mistake tbh. I was happy to fill my boots certainly.

Value servicing has gone to st recently.

The M value servicing wasn't bad before but it went up hundreds when I had a look a few weeks ago.

Newly acquired wheels are now on the car. My tyre guy told me he could not fit them without using the spacers I had used on the other wheels. I find this a bit odd as they are supposed to be genuine E60/E61 Staggered Style 124 wheels. Do these come in different offsets for the Touring?

Doesn't the Touring run a square set up i.e. same sizes front and rear? Never looked at mine to double check (haven't needed to change tyres) but I thought saloon wheels weren't a direct fit as the rears were wider with a different offset...

Or something like that!

This I can believe. I asked about the front and he said the tyre caught on the body without a spacer. I know my car is lowered slightly but this shouldn't make a standard wheel with a standard 245 40 18 rub on the front.

Sounds like the wrong wheels then. Are they for a different model?

Not sure how to check. The guy had an E60 saloon when I picked them up from his house. What other cars had style 124 in size 8 / 9 staggered? Should the standard saloon wheels fit the estate?

Look on the back of the wheels and check the ET value.

I've done some googling and there are no other versions of the same wheel for other bmw models. Really confused now.

Well you'll notice there are two versions, one for the Xi (4wd version on the continent). The other option of course is that they are replicas, and built to fit another model.

Either way if spacers have been required, you don't appear to have standard UK wheels.
