E61 V8 Bearding

I looked at them too but at around double, if not more the value I couldn't justify it. I don't think it's that much a better car!
Plus, a £150 month warranty is essential, weak gearboxes, throttle actuators and rod bearings all scare the st out of me.
Still, awesome cars, I pulled up behind one at some lights a month or so back and i did feel inferior

Apart from the ///M badge on the boot, that's absolutely lovely. philmots said:

Don't forget the £45 road tax too. That's a big commitment for what is basically an aging car. I have neither driven one or been driven in one. I'm sure the engine is nuts but at that money you can get a twin turbo v8 x5m. My mate had one and said it is surprisingly quick. Apparently sub 4 secs to 60 on a good day.Plus, a £150 month warranty is essential, weak gearboxes, throttle actuators and rod bearings all scare the st out of me.

Fronts on. I've ordered some different sized spacers but they still have not arrived. I already had some 25mm spacers and longer bolts in my garage unused. Without a spacer the wheel was hard up against the strut. I tried the 25mm expecting it to rub on full lock but surprisingly it is fine. This is the front wheel spec:
BBS CH 015
18 x 8.5
et35
With the 25mm spacer I'm effectively running a 10 offset. I offered up the rear without a spacer and the inside edge was hard up on the plastic liner. This is the rear wheel spec:
BBS CH 018
18 x 10
et40

Quite like them... Think they look a little small and could do with being silver, maybe?!
They're 18 inch. Same size tyre as the original wheels on the front 245 40. 265 35 on the rear so a tiny bit smaller than originally. Go flat too so the ride is a lot smoother and quieter now.I quite like the dark colour. Especially considering I hate washing cars.
Just come back from viewing it. Looks smart enough. Theres a bit of an oil leak under the bonnet, seemed to be coming from the LH side of the block, not sure what the usual culprits are and couldn't see well enough to work it out. Couldn't see any coolant flooding in the valley.
Bizarrely despite having just been driven round from their 'storage yard' it wouldn't start. With a jump pack it went ok. Strange quite high pitched noise for the first 30 seconds or so which then disappeared. Secondary air? Dash was flagging a PDC error- possibly to do with the flat battery. Drove well enough, went ok. It's the first car I've driven with this engine in, it didn't sound very special, almost like a sewing machine until you really get it lit. Not sure if thats normal or not? Pulled well, the gears changed ok but with a slow kickdown. The servotronic steering would drive me totally bonkers. Load space cover is missing. Tyres are all Bridgestone RE050 with a good amount of tread left.
Looked through the paperwork and the first stamp in the book is at 35k or something daft. I'm sure thats wrong, it's probably worth a call to BMW if anyone is interested. Not a huge amount of history with it, sensibly spaced stamps after the first one, but no receipts. Few old MOTs etc, nothing particularly untoward but the oil leak is noted on the last two or three.
Not a car for me, but I thought I'd report back incase anybody else was interested.
And if you fancy selling me a 545 or 550 touring shout up! A 550 saloon would be acceptable, particularly with the folding seats.

Very good spec that. Mine has the exact same interior trim, it looks really good there though!
Oil leak on left of block could well be the vacuum pump and oil pressure switch same as mine, sorted for well under £100
Load covers are actually pretty expensive!
Servo steering, is that the active steering where the rack changes? Wouldn't be my thing either, something else to go wrong.
