The Michelin PSS is rated 'A' in the wet - for what it's worth.

I'll be moving to them hopefully when the weather improves, I should of finished off my NCT's by then!

Added to my collection. Obligatory Disabled parking bay pic and I'm a bit disappointed with the Key which looks like a panamera.

Well I've only had it a few hours. It actually feels slower than the 550i - maybe it is! I've not really explored any limits. Just pootling around fiddling with all the gizmos. In terms of the gizmos it is impressive or maybe that is just up to date with the other moderns out there. I think the normal driving mode is a bit like eco in a modern bmw. The tail does move around more than expected if you jab the throttle on tight turns. Also I'm not sure about the 20 inch wheels on such a small car. So in summary I need to drive it more and see how we get on. Initial impressions are very very good. I've not been this excited about a car for a while which is exactly what I wanted.

Love the current shape Boxster, if I wanted a proper sports car it'd be what I'd go for.

Nice to think the 550i could keep up!

I had this when I moved from an E46 330d (204hp) to a Z4 3.0i (231hp). I think it is the torque talking. Of course the Boxster probably is a bit quicker (as the Z4 was in my case), it just doesn't feel that way.

Boxsters are pretty quick. I had a little run in with a 987 (I think it was an S) when I was driving a remapped 335i. My car was quicker but not by much.

Pub talk is useless without facts:

Wow, I didn't think it would be that close. Well done for digging up the facts!

I was going to say that torque and gearing probably skew the bum dyno bu I didn't realise they were that close.

The thing is, you probably don't need to ring the 550s neck to 'make progress' in the same way you might in the Boxster.

Hence, in day-to-day driving; the 550i feels quicker?!

I used to have a 986S. The 550i feels very much the same performance wise.

In the corners... not so much!

Phil - did I read somewhere you'd swapped the bulbs in your angel eyes from yellow to white? I take it that's easy to do - got a bulb link?
Yes..

Not too bad, headlights need to come out, 2 torx and 2 8mm bolts each side then a bit of a wiggle.

Then patience and persistence as they're not the easiest to get to even with the unit infront of you.

I used these... http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/mtec-ver-3-6w-cree-le...

You can get a lot cheaper ones on eBay which may be brighter now but I had this make in my old 335 with no issue and these have been in a year now with no issues at all so I'd happily recommend. Buy cheap buy twice etc.

I may be tempted to try these though if bought again... http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/24w-cree-xml-led-bmw-...
My cheap ebay jobbies arrived today from far far away.

Really?

I assumed all the angel eye bulbs were the same on zenon or halogen headlights.
