It does have sensors both front and rear (I guess that accommodates for the car being on less than level ground when it pumps the airbags up), so it would only be a problem if you had vastly different front/rear wheel and tyre diameters.
My Winter setup has a smaller overall diameter at the rear.
My Summer setup has a smaller overall at the front.

My Winter setup has a rear with an overall diameter about 1 inch smaller than on the Summer setup.

Have you considered buying the correct sized tyres? wink

I'm not sure how easy it is to access the sensor arms on the E61 but they were pretty easy to reach on the E39, and you could bend them to get the appropriate ride height. Bit of a ghetto solution but it might work on the E61 too.

I understand it that the rear links do the suspension only, the front link (there's just one) are for headlight auto levelling.

They're fixed to the suspension arm on one side and the body at the other so it can only adjust due to weight in the boot, that suspension arm will always stop at the same geometry if you have 17" wheels or 20"

If you're getting some odd readings, then your links could be seized, they're only about £10 for the pair. The sensors can't move freely so it gets confused.

Good point - I'm sure you're right.

Gentlemen. I've decided that a 295 30 19 IS the right tyre. So you lot all need to get on board my band wagon.

3 quid acid bath results. Does the rear end still look high? Also I've found some rust bubbles.

Very shiny! Mine hasn't seen a wash in about a month now, looks filthy! What's an acid bath?!

I'm not sure it looks high per se, but the wheel looks too small to my eye. It must be the tyre profile.

Surprised about the rust, can't say that I've seen mention of rust on E60s before. Mind you that's pretty small and an obscure spot, will check mine later!

Bargain. I'd pay them more to rub my paint less with a grit ingrained rag.

BOOM

And how are you two getting along?

Be honest - they're surprisingly quick right?

What's this down by the seat - a fire extinguisher?

Mine started misfiring halfway to work, had to pull over, switch off and restart.

After that it was fine but a serious loss of power and rough running when the engine light came on.

Done this a couple of times on cold starts but usually at the house, not 10 minutes into a drive.

Seems to happen when it hunts for idle on cold days.

Could do with the fault codes being read but I suspect it is time for new plugs and coils.

I know the rear-most plugs and coils are difficult to access in the 645i... How are ours? Quick DIY?

Full set of Bosch coils and plugs for £200-ish and do it myself sounds good!

The Full service includes plugs for the 550i and it is still way too cheap at £232. I think the parts for this are more than £232.
