Didn't Dom say it was coming out a lot more for the lowly 45i? Also - that won't include coils.

Yeah, twice the money in the beautiful south east and that doesn't include coils!

Can see it being around £1k to get the lot done (incl. Parts) at a dealer down here!

Life appears to be changing and not necessarily for the better. frown

Mine (E61 545i) may well be going up for sale in the next few months, if anyone's interested in details drop me an email.

Pics and details (mileage etc)?

Not that I am buying as I have one, obviously, but this thread needs more pics of the superior 545i!

05 plate, 96k miles, coolant pipe and pump done, gearbox oil changed last year. Dark grey (there's probably some fancy name for it), black leather interior. Will try and find some pics tonight but don't want to fall foul of the 'no advertising your own advert' rule...

£486 with plugs - no coils. £232 for oil and microfilter.

Didn't we decide pricing was by region or something?

Either way - I ain't having the dealer do it!

Will get the bonnet open this weekend, check access and then order the parts if it looks easy.

GSF will no doubt be 35% off this weekend, so I can grab coils!

How can it be by region when all you do is plug your reg into the bmw service website? hehe

That's a very go point!

Though I thought there was a postcode aspect... Maybe that's later on when you book the appointment!

Pics please. I'd be interested in knowing what these cost and how easy they are to change.

Picked this up a few days ago
BOOM

And how are you two getting along?

Be honest - they're surprisingly quick right?

What's this down by the seat - a fire extinguisher?

Very well thank you!

Haven't had the opportunity to test the acceleration, mainly town driving this week.

Yes it is a fire extinguisher. It has it's own supplementary owners handbook. The English section is 9 pages of instructions!

Underestimated by about £50 but I may need to place this order...

Those are the 'good' Bosch coils and recommended plugs (I believe) so the 'most expensive' combo of parts.

Could certainly be done for under £200 if you went cheap.

90 quid for plugs! How on earth do BMW supply and fit them (plus all the filters and oil) for 230 notes?! wobble

Well, I guess £60 after discount but the BMW deal is excellent!

Maybe another £10-20 off coils and plugs for £10 less off eBay but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle.

Probably have reasonable comeback with GSF and a nice receipt for the file.

Wouldn't it be better to plug it in and see what cylinder is causing the issue, and just replace that one? As well as all the spark plugs to rule that out.

Personally I'd buy the plugs from BMW unless you can be sure they're the exact same part number.

If one coil is on the way out, there is a far chance the others may be, if they haven't been changed before. I'll check the history but I'd feel happier doing the lot. It hasn't need much spending on it in the last year, so it's a treat.

A Google search on the forums suggests those plugs are the recommended ones but I might check.

Haven't ordered yet - will pop the bonnet and take a look tomorrow, order and then do the job next weekend!
