Wouldn't it be better to plug it in and see what cylinder is causing the issue, and just replace that one? As well as all the spark plugs to rule that out.
Personally I'd buy the plugs from BMW unless you can be sure they're the exact same part number.
If one coil is on the way out, there is a far chance the others may be, if they haven't been changed before. I'll check the history but I'd feel happier doing the lot. It hasn't need much spending on it in the last year, so it's a treat.Personally I'd buy the plugs from BMW unless you can be sure they're the exact same part number.

I'm the same. I don't like fixing individual things if they are part of a group of things. I cracked a spring and a shock died on my old E38.... the car got new shocks and springs all round. If I get a puncture on a half worn tyre then both tyres on that axle will get replaced. Etc.
Snap, that's always been my philosophy...I can't see this car leaving any time soon so I am going to monitor the torque converter issue (if there is one as I barely notice it any more), treat it to new tyres this year (still on winters), get the new coolant tank fitted and maybe have a look at the paintwork. It's doing me proud
There's a place not far from me called 'all German parts' that's meant to be cheap for Lemforder parts (I think they make the parts for BMW) ring and speak with Jason, he's a helpful fella.
I get re changing stuff in pairs like, springs, shockers, drop links, spark plugs etc.. But it's fairly rare for a coil to go so I'd be happy enough changing one. Specially when there's 8! Although I totally get it if you just fancy doing it for a treat.

No 2 and 5 are prone to wear with age, I think the bushes in the large lower arm are quite rare in the failure dept. I'm sure the MOT tester could clarify which ones have excess play.
If it is 2&5 this may help:

Picked this up a few days agoAnd how are you two getting along?
Be honest - they're surprisingly quick right?
What's this down by the seat - a fire extinguisher?
Haven't had the opportunity to test the acceleration, mainly town driving this week.
Yes it is a fire extinguisher. It has it's own supplementary owners handbook. The English section is 9 pages of instructions!
However she does remind me of my ex wife that is less good!
