BOOM

And how are you two getting along?

Be honest - they're surprisingly quick right?

What's this down by the seat - a fire extinguisher?

Very well thank you!

Haven't had the opportunity to test the acceleration, mainly town driving this week.

Yes it is a fire extinguisher. It has it's own supplementary owners handbook. The English section is 9 pages of instructions!
Well a week into ownership all is good.

However she does remind me of my ex wife that is less good!
Fast and loose?

These are on back order. Could be 2 weeks. Back to wandering if I should go for the B6 now.
So is there a coil spring on the rear of these Tourers, or does the air bag do it all?

40% sale at GSF this weekend so plugs and coils are even cheaper (I still haven't ordered as I have had no problems)...

Just a shame that the coils don't seem to be in stock for Home Delivery frown

I forgot... About a month ago I put a new MAF in it.

Read stories about e39 M5 guys replacing them at 60/80k as they deteriorate. Thought I'd treat it as its coming up to 100k.

A month in and it's well worth doing, maybe a slight improvement in mpg but the response on a light throttle has improved drastically, I'm really quite suprised. Feels like it's gained a few horses I never knew it had lost, on my local test run 'to the sign' my speed is 3/4 mph faster.

Highly recommended job.

I'm in hospital after emergency surgery to remove my appendix!

Might have to add a MAF to the list of parts I want!

GSF is -41% this weekend!

Good luck with the MOT! Mine passed in Novemebr with no advisories.

Link where I got the MAF... http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/381415388819

Genuine Bosch parts, boxed and sealed with the code so can do the online authenticity check.

This is correct for my car and 550's of the same age, 545's and newer 550's may be different. It's easy to check online on the Bosch part finder.

Thanks for the heads up. iDrive is telling me mine is due front pads and fluid imminently - which probably means disks as well (I've not touched the front brakes in 3+ years and 60k miles).

I'd use genuine parts myself, Cotswalds on bmw5 normally do good deals.

550 share the 535 discs so not cheap but you do get the alloy bells so they don't rust and look ste in about a month like the cheaper aftermarket stuff.

They'll deffo do something 'original equipment' but no idea if they do the actual ones that are made for BMW.

Someone mainstream will make them but opinion differs greatly as to who.

I've popped a post on the cotswold thread anyway cheers. Scrolling down looks like £308 as someone with a 535d got a price.
