Hi all, after 18 months of happy ownership I've decided to chop the E65 730d in for a 60 reg 525d with a long list of extras. Did have the option of a 58 F01 and a 10 reg 530d but both were older with 15 - 20k more miles and the 525d is fast enough for me (my main criteria was 6 cylinders).

The car comes with a bunch of extras (essential so as not to feel short changed compared with the 7) including the dynamic pack with the 19" wheels which look great but herein is my only concern with the car - what are the 19's like to live with - does anyone have experience? What do people think of 18's - is it worth swapping?

As an aside, the car has the prof media pack and so I could get BMW assist for £120 pa - what do people think of this; is it worth the money?

First of all, congrats on the new car - the F10 is certainly a fine 5 series!

I have a set of 20" on my 550i F10 (SE) and find the ride quality fairly decent. Not a patch on my E65 riding on 21s though, so I'm not sure I'd like to sample the M-Sport variant. My other half suggests the F10 fails the 'applying make up on the move' test - I blame the run flats smile

I've struggled a little to adapt to the 'step down' to the 5 despite all the modern tech (and indeed having owned 3 x E39s), so much so mine is up for sale but I hope you fare better!

Oh dear...

I rarely keep cars more than 6 - 8 months which is a testament to how good I thought the 730d was and I always thought it would be a hard act to follow. I did think long and hard about the F01 730d but decided the higher mileage and age made the 5 series the better choice but now you've got me thinking again albeit a little too late confused

Did you take the F01 out for a spin? If so, how did it compare to the E65? I haven't done so but I suspect I may give it a go in the coming months.

As I say the F10 is a great car despite my secret yearnings for the big barge. I never really got on with the E60 but the F10 is a nice place to be, in fact the sports seat on the F10 are light years ahead of the sport seats on the E65 in terms of comfort!

Sorry but no, I wrote off the F01 because of the mileage so didn't drive it. My new 525d has the sports seats and steering wheel and really appealed from a tactile point of view.

I've read various opinions that the E65 rides is better than the F01 (no run flats) which is partly another reason for choosing the F10 as the comparison isn't so obvious if you know what I mean?
