Black wouldn't put me off personally, what would put me off was if they were curbed to fk which is hard to make out from the photo.

If they are, have them refurbed IMO, which then leaves a question of whether you do it pre-sale or do it as part of the sale depending what the buyer wants.

I’m thinking of moving my trusty BMW 130 onto pastures new as I need a daily with more space.

The question is, would these alloy wheels stop you buying the car if everything else was good? (I know the car needs a clean, just focus on the wheels).

The alloys were fitted to the car when I bought it. They are genuine BMW 178 type alloys. They may have been fitted as an option when new, they may have been added later on by the previous owner.

I’ve always thought they suited the car but I know black alloys are a bone of contention. Should I pick up some silver alloys from ebay or leave them?
Are those tyre profiles different front and rear?

Personally, i'd get the wheels thats on it resprayed silver. You should be able to get them powder coated in silver for £250-300.

They look harmless enough as a wheel style, however black psychologically will put some people off.

Whilst i am a fan of black wheels on the right car, in the right colour, thats definitely not a colour that it works on.

the tyres should be the same profile as they were fitted at the same time (goes outside to check.......).

I think some who are saying the wheels should be returned back to silver are missing what the O/P said.

To answer some of the questions, the wheels are black as standard. They are sold in silver or black and one of the previous owners went black.

The wheels came from BMW new with the black finish, so they are genuine wheels with the genuine BMW finish, so refurbishing them silver would de-value them, no ? (the original BMW finish should be excellent)

Personally i think they suit the car and it looks fine but agree that dirty black wheels look rubbish.

Those wheels don't suit that colour car. Original or not I'd move them on.

I'm not missing what the O/P said - i said they should be resprayed silver, not returned to silver.

The car doesnt suit black wheels, and it will alienate (some) buyers.

Not in the least.

The vast bulk of buyers when buying a car, want it completely original and non contentious.

Its the same reason you'd remove stickers from a car or seat covers or fluffy dice from the mirror - it removes previous personalisation.

It's the obsession with chavs very odd.

I couldn't care what colour the wheels are, I'd be assessing the overall condition of the car and not speculating about the existing owner.

I'd want the original wheels on the car - they look better in my opinion too.

Good luck with the sale though.
