Struggling to get some new run flats for the front of my 135i, anybody else had the same issue? I've got to change them now as they are done but tried a couple of local fitters and none of the on line places have them either. Size is 215/40 r18. At the moment I've ordered some 225/40 r18s as that look likes the only option if I want to keep the run flats. Is that going to be an issue? Anyone else done it?

Many many people have done it with no issues, just a bit more front grip, cheaper and better availability as you have experienced, although technically you should declare the non-std size to your insurer I think. This is now the std front size for current 1-series on 18.

Have a little look on babybmw.net for more info.

Not sure why you insist on RFTs, Mich Supersport for instance would transform the car.

I believe Bridgestone have stopped making the run flat OEM 215/40 R18 size now, which just leaves Dunlop as the only supplier - probably why you struggling.

Don't know of anyone trying 225/40 in run flat though. Normally, people go to this size (and 255/35 on rear) when ditching the horrid RFT's for decent tyres.

They have, but are 'relaunching' the RE050A RFT on 1st September, with stock to arrive soon afterwards.

Well i've had put on the 225/50 r18 Bridgstone RE050As on the front this morning, and whilst I had a small issue of the Stability/TC cutting power in a strange manner on a fast roundabout about 15 miles in, all seems to have settled. We'll see. I do a load of miles so didn't want to ditch the Run Flats.
