The 05 mentioned, I believe, was a coupe. I had a 55 coupe, as the new coupe didn't come in until Autumn 2006. So definitely 06 coupes.

Assuming tourings were replaced at the same time as saloon, then you're probably right although late registrations could see some 05's I suppose.

When I sold my old coupe, I was nosy about where it would end up so did some searching. I remember this company (they didn't get mine) always had a fair few E46s. whether they are any good, I don't know, but it might give you an idea of prices. They have a touring

Nice cars but a bit rich price-wise no?

Agreed, those prices are nuts. I'd be looking at eBay and Autotrader - something will turn up but might take a while. It's worth noting that if the car has rust, 04 (I think) onwards had a 12 year anti corrosion warranty. I've just had my 55 plate done at 127k miles, so long as the history is spot on, you should be able to get it done.

I paid £4600 nearly 3 years ago for a 55 plate 330ci, 2 owner, FBMWSH and decent spec. Only needed general servicing and consumables except for having the CCV done due to high oil consumption (1 litre every 600 miles!) although it made no difference. Very good cars, might take a while to find a good one though.

I'm not too sharp on prices wink But the touring I linked to, for the other fella, was around the price someone here paid recently and was chuffed, because they are rare as hen's dentures.

Oil consumption though, is definitely something to watch out for. But great cars overall smile

This one caught my eye today http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...

I was looking over the photos to see if the equip was consistent with Sport spec, is there a build sticker visible on these cars so you can check the original options and engine fitted?

Not sure what you mean by build sticker, but here is the spec. It says M Sport Package II, sports seats. It says sports suspension settings; so it should have the full package.

That's a useful site! I tried some VINs from other ads and it worked but for the red one the site returned no matches, how did you get that much detail?

Build sticker I meant something like this http://plugin.org.uk/misc/D3A_2035.jpg often stuck on the boot floor under the carpet or inside the bonnet

Can't remember having something exactly like that on my E46, but there was something similar under bonnet; it certainly said colour.

Just by putting in the last 7 digits of the VIN. Presumably you didn't have the correct VIN?

You probably know this, but I got the VIN by putting the reg in the BMW Warranty Get Quote site; works unless car has been on a private plate [and it's that plate which they have records for] or there is currently a warranty on car.
