E39 Alloys - Rolling Radius, Tyre Sizes etc

I've changed the "Turbine" alloys on my lowly 520i SE for a set of Style 32s, this has been done purely on the basis of aesthetics, and the desire to shod the Turbines with winter tyres.
The Turbines wore 225/55/R16 Tyres front and rear, the Style 32s I've bought have 235/45/R17 front and 255/40/R17 rear which are from what I can gather the correct sizes for those wheels, however, the overall diameter of the rears is almost 2cm less than that of the Turbines that were replaced.
I realise this will lead to discrepancies with my speedometer reading, and looked at the effects of fitting a 45 section tyre to the rears, but that would result in a larger diameter wheel. Any other owners on here made a similar swap? What tyre sizes did you go for?
