F30 335D Remap...

If you ever have any work done on a modern BMW the dealership have to reprogram the whole car which I assume would wipe the remap off or highlight the fact it being there.
I've had a lot of issues with my 335i F30 recently and its been reprogrammed 4 times luckily I never went ahead with a proposed remap, keep this is mind!

You can get a Bluefin remap which gives you an adaptor unit which allows you to remap yourself.
Then if BMW reset you can easily remap it back using the adapter Bluefin provide.
I have a Bluefin remap on my 535d and have so for more than a couple of years. No issues.
I imagine it would affect BMW warranty. No free lunch. You take your chances.

On your new car the only one I would have no fear about is this http://shop.ac-schnitzer.co.uk/performance-upgrade... their warranty runs with BMWs I know them well and trust any probs they would put right..but expensive

The ACS box is made by Steinbauer, so you can buy the same kit for around £1k, I believe. It does however not come with a warranty if you go down that route. The ACS warranty is 2 years from the new registration date of the car, extendable by a further year.I have had the recent experience of a warranty repair when my ACS sprung car had a suspension problem. It was thought to be a failure of the adaptive dampers, although it turned out not to be that. I wondered how BMW would react, given the ACS mod, but it was no issue at all.

I believe the tuning boxes are exactly the same, except for the ability to be able to adjust the power with the Steinbauer box, and turn it up beyond the ACS one (risking going over the 700 Nm limit of the 8AT). I would still favour the ACS one. smashy said:

As good as the D3 in sure ultimate car is way off the mark - try Lambo Miura or Fezza 275 GTB4 etc worlds apartAs a day to day car the D3 heck the 335d are very effective cars - but you can run RS6's Etc as daily drivers and if you think a x35d/D3 is properly fast you've not owned a tryely fast car utterly different league.
I wouldnt want those cars , my car would be an aston you dont look like a knobhead in one of those.But my ultimate is that D3 because it could be obtainable if I wanted to up my monthly by a couple of hundred a month but a step too far methinks

Personally I run the F10 535d RWD love it to bits does everything really well apart from aural pleasure ... Edited by smashy on Wednesday 19th August 18:38
Have been taking note of the E63 AMG V8 Bi turbo estate recently the ultimate family wagon plus they do 28mpg combined and near on 35mpg on the motorway. While having the ability to punch a 8 second to 100mph time every time as it's an auto. Brutal acceleration brutal power and amazing noise ---- just need to think hard about the cost to change and if it's really worth doing v running my P&J for the very long term.

A beast indeed Welsbeef,in fact if I only did 10k a year I would buy a secondhand car like that and just not worry about MPG...but ive done 600 miles in the last week and thats my life.
What allways makes me curious,my F30 30d Bristol and back to west london yesterday on the M4 outside lane all the way,no traffic and travelling in a way that basically nothing overtook me ,at the end OBC 47.6mpg ,low for me on a long motorway run normally 49/51mpg.Curious is what would a big petrol do at those speeds?People only talk about what their big petrol achieves poodling along the motorways
Actually re my Q I was overtaken once, by a M135i and at the speed I done that journey in I wonder what the MPG would have been in that.On forums you see guys saying middle lane in that car gets you high 30s,But what about fast lane all the way.In my head I reckon about 25?????

Yea man maths again and rose tinted glasses .....I have read that it has 4 cylinder deactivation IE if in "Eco" mode it runs on only 4 cylinders as such would be like a 2.75ltr 4 cylinder jobbie - I believe Corvettes do this as well to make significant increases to mpg ideal for M way or urban driving then let the beast out under full load driving .... Though full load is probably a very short activity in the UK with its low speed limits.
