The E46 325ti Appreciation Thread
Discussion
Mines a late six speed and with my short commute to work with mostly stop/start it always reads around 27-28 mpg.
The family bus is a Disco 3, this may come as no surprise but it occasionally looses the ability to work so she takes the Compact to work during these periods of wallet bashing inactivity, on her commute of 40 odd miles the car reads 32-33 mpg which gradually rises the longer she uses it.
Cracking little car, disco 3, not so much!

I had a facelift 320td Compact back in 2005, and it averaged about 47 mpg in the 43K miles I had it.
Decent car and great range with the 63 litre fuel tank, but having no dpf it smoked like a trooper when you floored it and at the end of the day still sounded like a tractor!
Just wish I had test driven a 325ti then, because I wouldn't have bought the diseasel!
So on this thread only a 325ti will do!

Be very interested to see how you get on and your thoughts on the finished results. I've been playing with fitting the 3.0 for a while that isn't owe me much. I think it would make it such a good all round package. I can't find a car that I'd like to replace it with. The 130 looked like a decent option but the compact looks like it has more room and probably alot less grief long-term

Will let you know how I get on, hopefully starting it next weekend and have a few things still to source, I need a new diff as the 316 diff will be no good with the final drive it offers compared to the 330.I also just got rid of my M135i and new 235i is arriving in June hopefully, and have to say the 1 series is a much nicer place to be and more standard tech makes it a nicer place to sit I think this 330 compact is just a toy to tinker with and take to a few track days

If all goes to plan I will have a spare 3.23 diff in a couple of weeks. This is the standard ratio from the 325ti and it is nice and smooth (new oil about 3k ago). Let me know if you want it.zek said:
Great cars, converted mine to 330 spec in 2009. The extra power is more noticeable than the figures suggest. It now has an ESS TS2+ charger and full M3 running gear with OEM CSL suspension. It is an addictive drive!
That looks like loads of fun!Now I can't decide whether I want my 325ti to keep going - if it doesn't a 330ti looks like a good option!
Well I'm of the same opinion, been looking at other car options but nothing really ticks the boxes as much as the E46 compact. Seriously thinking of fitting the 3.0 engine I have sitting along with a 6 speed box. Might replace the dampers at the same time with some new bilsteins. Think I'll overhaul the vanos, water pump and thermostat while engine is still out.
Well, that's me 2 months into having mine, still wonderful.
Been doing a mix of long drives and daily use and it really is fantastic. Only made the mistake of driving Twin1's Eunos yesterday which makes this feel like a big old barge!
I'm now thinking about what I can do to the car to make it perform as well as possible as we're driving to the German Grand Prix this summer, probably including a few laps of the nurburgring too. Does anyone have any suggestions?
