The E46 325ti Appreciation Thread

Sadly a bereavement means my 318ti has to go. It's ripe for an M52/2.8 and LSD.

Sorry to hear of your situation. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282113455076?ssPageName=...
That looks like a really clean example of an E36 Compact!
But I hope the sale is painless.
As a slight aside I think I saw your M3 at Donington on Sunday - if I did I hope you had a good day!

Watching with interest, the logistics of a collection would be "interesting" by the look of it http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282113455076?ssPageName=...

Sadly we lost an appreciator on Monday - my nephew sold his 325ti!
But he became a dad in April and he couldn't get his daughter's seat in the back easily (no front airbag switch on his) or get the buggy in the boot! (How big are babies these days)?
Still he is with us in spirit as he has bought an E46 325i Sport Touring (and it is Imola Red)!
First impression is it drives pretty similar, just looks different!
BTW, it was built in 2004 and is on a 54 plate but only a 5 speed - did the 325i Touring not get the 6 speed with the facelift?

Did you let his old one go again? But he became a dad in April and he couldn't get his daughter's seat in the back easily (no front airbag switch on his) or get the buggy in the boot! (How big are babies these days)?

Only 330i and 325ti got 6-speeder in non M E46 petrol
320d and 330d engine cars got it as well though in E46 ( so you can have a 320td Compact with 6-speed )
I recently picked up an absurdly cheap set of KW V3 coilovers, needing a little TLC. One shock needs servicing, and the front springs could do with some powder coating, but once this is done I will be fitting these to replace my Bilstein B12s.
If anyone is interested in a suspension upgrade, let me know

What's the B12 like? My car rides pretty well, but I could be swayed by some yellow and Blue kit... Also what condition is it in? Like mileage etc.
I sent you an email via the forum, let me know if it does not arrive. I don't want to clutter this thread up too much s m said:

I didn't so much let it go as he sold it! Only 330i and 325ti got 6-speeder in non M E46 petrol

But everyday is a school day! My first E46 was an 04 plate 320td Compact so did indeed have the 6-speed - thanks! (But as an SE the seats were cr*p)!
Picked this up today for SOTW money.
Have no need or use for it but this thread is totaly to blame!
Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272312050390
Heres the ad but got it heavily reduced due to 4 bald tyres and the heater not working at all.
Was after a late 6 speed with a few toys but wasn't willing to pay the premium or wait it out for one to come up, but this was to cheap.in my opinion to ignore.

Many say that there is little/no difference in it due to the shorter gearing of the compact models. However, another change is needed to make 60 so you will find a 330i pull away there. I have a 5spd and find it can cope fine on motorway driving but at 100+ it definitely gets buzzy. If there is a well optioned cared for 5spd I could choose it any day over a dog of a 6spd. That's what I did in the end!

The 5 and 6 speed boxes are the same ratios, the 6 speed box just has one extra - so the 6 speed doesn't loose out in the fun stakes.
Ah, sounds good. I wrongly assumed the 5 speed would be a closer box = more fun. Obviously not! It won't be a motorway car so either should suit. Thanks
