Quick question.....do the manual sports seats adjust to a lower final position than the powered ones?

Thanks for the advice; I'll give that a go later.

My car has a faulty oil sensor, so it's generally on for 30 seconds when I start the car and then it turns off. Maybe yours has been doing the same and the MOT guy saw that?
No, mine hasn't been doing that - my warning light comes on when it needs a drink but stays off when it doesn't - but maybe the MOT guy has premonitions! laugh

He did a "Vehicle Condition Report" and reported that I had 245/40 x 17 tyres - well I do have 2 of those, but it has a staggered set-up so he was only 50% right (fronts are 225/45 x 17).

It just p*sses me off that someone who seems to lack the intellect to read tyre sizes from the sidewalls is allowed the discretion to decide whether my rear indicator lights are "orange" enough to be an advisory or a fail - given that he apparently can't read (or can't be bothered)!

Won't be going back there!

I was given the advice by a friendly mechanic to always pay full price for an MOT (~£50) as this is the cost for the lift for the hour. Whereas you have places that will charge £30 for the lift for the hour, and they're the ones that'll try and screw you.

Any cheap 325ti's for sale in the south? Wanting a track car (will consider 330i saloon also)

Cheers!

Yes, that may be good advice!

Is it a coincidence, but now 5 days later I have power steering fluid p*ssing out all over the front cross-member! I hope that isn't in any way connected to my not agreeing to the test station sorting any of their "advisories"!

There was a 325ti on A/T recently with loads of miles, but under 4 figures in price - could be OK.

But a 330i saloon may be a good option, given that there are now race series for 325tis and 330Cis!

I may have seen that, blue one, £700 but was sold by the time I got to it. I wasn't aware of the ti race series!

Yes, it was a blue one - really cheap and perfect for a track day car.

It seems there are only 8 or 9 325tis racing - they go out with the Kumho tyre series.

Will try to get to one of their meetings next year - wonder if I'll get in for free?! laugh

To blow the dust off of this thread again. Had mint MOT'ed today. Passed first time with no advisories! I was surprised for a 15 year old car. Also I looked up the price of a new fuel filter while it's in. £100 for a BMW one! Mahle it is.

Guys, what's the problem with the rear window wiper? Is it typically a new motor being needed?

I know this is common but I'm doing so much driving at the moment that I want it fixed to see in the rain.

Also, what would you do about a bolster being on the verge of splitting? Do I need to re-trim the entire seat or is there a cheaper (DIY) option?

I had my seat bolster re stitched by a car trimmer, took him about an hour and cost me £40 cash and it's held up fine for the last 6 months.

And can you repair the leather that's worn too?

I dunno, you'd have to ask a specialist, you can re-connolise leather but I reckon it's more expense than you'd want to pay on a car like this, probably cheaper to find a seat in a scrap yard.

Or buy a good passenger seat and swop the good bits over.

Depends how bad it is. The washer fluid leaks into the system and gunks it all up. If you're lucky then stripping and cleaning the internals might save it.

There is a 325ti for sale locally which looks pretty interesting.

The only issue is the car is an automatic.

Normally stay clear of auto cars but how is it in the 325ti?

ZF5HP19 is the box. It's fine, makes the car slower but easier to drive like any auto. Depends what you want.

Well spotted! Almost impossible to find the way its been listed.

After selling my cheap £900 325ti to my sister and getting a golf R delivered (cheap lease), I decided i missed the TI.

so i now have a 2012 320d, a new golf R and as far as i can tell the only white 325ti m sport in the country.

Need to do a bit of fleet shuffling me thinks.
