Mine did its first towing in my ownership today, collecting my new race car and trailer. It did a pretty good job actually, the short 5th gear pulled the set up at 50mph on the flat with no problems, averaged 22mpg too. The boot was full of spares, a diff, another set of wheels and more.
Great photo OP!

I've read about your race car elsewhere - I can see why a 325ti would also make a pretty good tow car as they are pretty torquey and 5th is quite low-geared.

They can pretty much do whatever you want, which is why I bought one! laugh (So much more fun than the 320td I had years ago, although that wasn't bad)!

This seem to be well rated:

Pagid RS4-2 Blue

Afraid I haven't tried them as my track days are in the past!

Will give them a Google thanks... aftermarket and performance parts seem to be very limited for this model for some reason???

That's what I'm enjoying about my ti - the photo reminds me - I used to have a 325 Sport and also an E21 323i. The ti has that same sense of 'wieldiness', the big engine in a small car that I liked with the old E21 and E30s, makes you want to thread it down the twisty lanes on the way home. Never really got that feeling with my E36 328i and E46 330, good cars though they were in their own right - they physically 'seemed' much bigger cars. It's great fun with the induction and exhaust noise, plus the quick rack and LSD. 4 years in and still not bored - back to the Alps next summer too cool

Thanks for that. thumbup

Downloaded and read - as you say some of it is quite interesting.

I didn't realize they all came with a stainless exhaust! Great - one bit I shouldn't need to replace!

Could anybody advise on spring rates for my 325ti please. Just about to order some BC racing coilovers and can't decide what spring rates I need. The car is a track only car running semi slicks so can get away with stiff springs. The company I'm getting them from have advised 12kg fr and either 10 or 8kg rear.
Any ideas if that sounds ok???

Snap!... In prefacelift form...

Then it did get a good cleaning though, and all was back to normal.

As far as spring rates I did see your post in the Facebook group for these blighters and I have no idea, sorry. If the manufacturer suggest that you should be all good though.

I think the MV1s look much better than the MV2s. (Though they are a little fragile) Is that your actual no plate?

I've been looking to change the MV2s since I bought the car but it hasn't happened just yet.

They were a factory option though - which I reckon along with the adjustable seats is one of the more unusual options for this car.

Gregs, that is just great. thumbup

I had a Topaz Blue 320td before I was enlightened to the petrol world!

My nephew's E46 Touring (on MV2s) is parked next to my Compact (on 98Ms)!

Nephew had a facelift 325ti but became a dad in April, so he had to get a bit more practical!

MV1s are my favourite of the wheel options for the E46, and were ordered new on my car. One of them has been welded before but I've been lucky during the 25k I've done on mine.

Sadly the plate is not. Spot of editing to remove the first two and last digit.

My old one came with MV2s, a £440 option on the Sport IIRC

A somewhat dull question for you guys, but how are your cars coping with the cold weather in terms of heating? Mine seems to take ages to demist the windscreen and actually put out any heating. At least 5 minutes I would say.

My poor car isn't very healthy, and I'm feeling pretty sad about it. Loses power all over the place and grumbles and kangeroos a bit frown

If it takes ages to warm up needs a new thermostat.

Yup, mine heats up quickly.

Good to chat with the guys who were driving their 325ti at Brands yesterday. A completely standard car apparently, £750 and it was going well in the greasy conditions.
