Well just had a test drive of an 18 plate 335dxdrive ,with my one and only option that I love ...a sunroof

I was so curious to drive this LCI because my 2014 new 330d luxury had se suspension ,it was like a floating boat and literally on some surfaces like ice road truckers bouncing up and down on the seat.O n the outside lane of a motorway it was like you had no suspension wallowing left and right floating pretty disconcerting to say the least which kept me off the outside lane till the ACS springs .ACS springs and dampers sorted it ,not being xdrive and reading the forums I guessed the 335d may be even worse.

Sat in the car and said to my wife I will know in the next 50 yards if it is worth carrying on. Away we went and I hit the brakes .Amazing the nose did not drop and have me holding on with my bum to the seat to stop going forward, a good start. Then over speed bumps no problem ice road truckers stylee. The frustrating thing only a mile from junction 4 of the M4 and I really wanted to get it on the outside lane M4 closed off but it was obvious this LCI suspension was completely different.

Have to say a lovely ride very comfortable I was amazed. As for the 335d engine compared to mine just relentless linear power as opposed to my lag then woomph. This had a light interior and with the sunroof was so bright ,honestly a lovely car and as I am used to the F30 and controls like getting into an old pair of jeans

I did not buy it I do a shed load of miles 400 plus a week ,no M4 but an 8 mile circuit of Suburbs of west london showed 25 mpg ,when I got back I jumped in my 330d did the same circuit showed 32mpg too much of a payoff for power I will never use ,the 330d is fast enough. I then sat in an Alfa Guilia later on to test drive that.I never turned the engine on my wife and I realised straight away that is was so constricted dark and claustophobic ,horrible. Jag XE anyone? again windows so small so it will be another BMW ,need to make my mind up before ulez extension london oct 25th.But that 335d really was lovely.
Had my 66plate 335d 4.5 uears now. Never seen less than 42mpg anywhere. Generally 44mpg, got 50mpg on a long run. Yes, the torque and power delivery are great, you will miss that if you go back to a 330d.

That is good to hear.Thing is £26,500 for a car that will be basically 4 years old in 4 months..Someone in the trade told me most cars in this price range used are 20% overpriced at the moment. Its a real dilemma, may regret losing it it really was lovely,my car is on ACS springs and dampers and it felt more limo like.Funny though considering I hated them I prefer my se seats to the sports seat in this a bit too huggy.

It is an itch mind ,the colour, light interior, sunroof open a real quality motor but is it a dinasaur. I am also thinking totally opposite a 21 plate 128ti sun roof included! Reports that on motorway runs 52mpg has been achieved ,driving like miss daisy probably so mid 40s must be possible ...£7k more is the killer but when paid for I still have a reasonably new car not quickly heading back to where I started, a getting old one.

I really wish I wasnt in this situation re ulez a financial headache at the wrong time in my life.I do not want to sell my car, buying a new car should feel exciting I just feel gutted

They're probably around 20% more than they used to be 18 months ago but that doesn't necessarily mean they are overpriced particularly if they're all at that price level.

No one knows if that market will suddenly drop 20% but I doubt it.

We ve got a 66 plate X4 30d, i got a mate to look at cap for me for a trade in price.

£23000 to £24000, however historic values, so same month last year it was at £19.500.

So we ve decided to keep it another year and see what happens then.

Nick in my mind they are 'overpriced' there is no value I mean I cannot afford to buy any new used car at the moment, but I have to and with the miles I do it has to be reasonably new etc even decent Focus's 2 years old are 23k and that is with a gutless engine with horrible powershift.

I looked at an Alpha ,the guys selling it sold exotica from a barn just happened to have the alpha guilia selling for a friend had a cup of tea and good car chat ,told them about my £26500 18 plate335d they said that is a £22/23k car .. if it had been I would have bought it there and then..

EDITED just told bmw berrys I am buying it bloody lovely thing, could not let it go.

Sorry if I missed it but you say in this quoted post you cannot afford to buy any new used car but with the miles you have to?

Why can you not run your 330d with lowered springs until it’s scrap? Or until buying a newer used car is affordable. Does your car have a fault that cannot be repaired is it cash 4 car with age limit is it ULEZ non compliant. If there is no reason apart from it would be lovely to change - but as you state you cannot afford it you shouldn’t be buying it should you.
