Hi all

Took delivery of our 4 series GC on Monday. Its a beauty with the MSport kit, even in footballers white (Alpine White with Ivory Leather) - but i'm actually more impressed with how much shove the 20d engine has. We have always had larger engined cars - this replacing a 3.0 petrol V6 Audi A4 - So in all honestly I thought we had made a bit of a mistake ordering the 20d (without first driving it..who does that!?) But i'm pleased to say the drive is fantastic and really has exceeded my expectations of a 2.0 turbo diesel. The torque is fantastic and utilised to its fullest with the ZF8 box. Theres a bit of diesel clatter when its idle and when you get a bit pedal heavy but this is probably obvious.

The car has come in standard MSport spec, so it comes with Xenons, heated Ivory leather, Electric mirrors, 18'' wheels, and does have the Pro media sat nav.

The pro sat nav & multimedia is very impressive - I like my gadgets and this has pretty much everything... Bluetooth audio streaming, USB/Aux, Impressive satnav & map and a few other bits and pieces. iDrive took a few hours to use naturally but now its a doddle to use.

The Xenons are also very crisp at night which I like! Overall.. first class service from BMW Cardiff, hopefully will be the same story for as long as I have the car. Will update with a couple interior shots.

That looks BIG! I shall look out for it around Cardiff wink

I assume you mean Sytner, when you say BMW Cardiff. If so, so far I have found the Service Department excellent; so you should be well looked after.

Enjoy !

Admittedly its a lot larger than I thought, especially when its on my drive - in a huge showroom it doesn't look all that big. Still, fits the bill perfect!

Glad to hear that, I did mean Sytner. I had a bit a of a rubbish experience with them years ago with an old 4.4 E53 X5, but since then i've heard nothing but good things.

We live in the lovely welsh valleys ( Aberdare) but one of us are usually in Cardiff every weekend..so I have no doubt one of us in the house will skank the keys for this for the Cardiff duties!

Nice - not seen white on white (ok Ivory) so be interested to look at inside/outside pic

will get a few up tonight mate - its actually a really nice combo, although I did cack myself after I put the order on if it was the right choice. i'm the house hold valeter/detailer so I should be ok to keep on top of it but the drivers seat is definitely going to get grubby soon, I can just tell.

I did look at the coral red leather in the showroom on their 435, but it made the car feel a bit 'Gloomy' so I opted out.

That looks nice in white and I notice BMW have now gone the Audi route by giving the 4 pot diesel engine twin exhaust pipes and I always thought the single pipe set up on the older models did look a bit lost.

Also really like the ivory interior as it really lifts it and makes a nice change from black for sure.

I've had my 428 Gran Coupe for nearly a year now, it's a superb car. A real all rounder.

I bought my 4 series coupe last year and really like it save for the single exhaust pipe which was always a negative in my mind but I think the new versions are twin piped now .

Great car and now averaging 55.4 miles to the gallon with a degree of Miss Daisy driving.

Enjoy

I'll chip in with my experience in my F31 328i over the past year.

At 70 on the motorway, 41/42 is the norm. It is on my 48 mile commute.

On a normal A road drive at it'll see high 30s.

Overall, around 34/35 is the long term average on the OBC. The official BMW figures are pie in the sky!

EDIT to add - We did a 2000 mile trip around Europe last month, the OBC read 35.6. This was with 4 up, a full boot and roofbox.

On my commute, which is 22 miles and a right old mixture, including lots of hills, it works out at about 36mpg.

On a recent trip to Cheshire and back, all motorway with not much traffic, I got 45mpg.

As a comparison, my previous car, a pretty frugal Mercedes C250 CDI used to do roughly 44 mpg on the same commute and 55mpg on long trips.

Had my 430D coupe for just about a year and love it. Average 39 mpg overall and 45-48 on a run. Sports plus mode is awesome. The 3l engine is a peach but to get that I went for the Luxury version as Msport wasn't available on co car list. Wife has a 220d and I thought the difference in the engines was worth it.

If it's the same engine as in my 520d you will find it just gets smoother and more flexible with mileage. My car has now done about 18,000 miles and it is much smoother than when new. The diesel clatter at idle newer disappears but is now less noticeable and less piercing.

Looks nice really like the newer gen BMWs.

I was lucky enough to be in a 65 plate 335xD rental. Very solid car great performance and came with all the toys including HK audio, HD NAV (AWESOME!!!) and LED lights. I can't really fault it except for the fact that it doesn't feel any larger than my current M135i.

I'm very tempted by a 428i Gran Coupe but have noticed some huge discounts on 3 series saloons on a broker website - not sure if I'm supposed to name? So they have £8000+ off the 330i and 340i which makes them a good few K cheaper than the 428. Quandary ensues.

Yeh - its tricky one & I am in the same boat - prefer the gran coupe but unsure if its worth the premium of the 3 series

And yes, lots of good discounts out there - and I think I am going to wait for the new petrol engines in the 4 series gran coupe (early next year I think)
