Hi all,

I have always wanted an E38 7 series and wondered if you could give me some collective advice?

I have seen lots of cheap ones around in varying conditions and the prices seem to vary quite a bit. i really want one with comfort seats and likely just a 728i sport rather than the bigger engines. I am not bothered about toys/gadgets as would be happy to fit an aftermarket head unit for bluetooth etc.

I do like the E65 quite a bit apart from the marmite looks but have been a bit put off by reported electrical gremlins. I am happy to spend up to £7k for the right one.

I have seen this one:

I know it is quite a bit of money for an old car but what are peoples thoughts? Should I just go for an E65 730d/730i at this price?

thanks,

GB

You won't get a 728i Sport without the sports seats as that's one of the things that sets it apart.

I did see this posted on facebook earlier today

That one on ebay does look quite nice. It was to comfort seats that I was particularly after as I have heard that they are excellent.

I noticed that my link did not work so have tried again!

Does anyone have experience of running a 728i?

I love the way that seller obviously thinks the seats are the best part of the car.

The former one, the black one looks cracking, it has the sports seats and alot of options it seems, and a good price at that. And black on black is a winner style wise imo. It has the wrong tyre dimensions fitted however, should be 235/50-18 front, and 255/45-18 in the rear if I'm not mistaken.

The other one has contour seats, which were quite an expensive option, but they are not as comfy as the regular comfort seats imo, I've had both, comforts in my '95 750, and contours in my current 2000 750, and the comforts are pure win.

The latter one is rather expensive tho, being the smallest engine and all, but nice spec, nice colours and low miles.

Thanks for the info. The black one does look good and at half the price of the blue one then it could be a winner.

I am in the midlands so will have to see if I can arrange a trip to see the one in ebay. Is there anything particular I should look out for with these?

I can see that the plastic part in the back bumper is a bit scratched but assume that could be sorted quite easily. I am aware that the cooling systems/water pump often need a refresh but again that is quite cheap I think.

Thanks for your help
