3 series factory delays
Discussion
So apparently build week 52 is the same as calendar week 52 ie the end of the year so I have asked them to explain the logistics of build week 52 and anticipated delivery date to me of 28th December especially as 28/12 is a bank holiday
Maybe they are talking about 28/12 2016.............

Yeah i've done some research and it seems the build weeks do match the calendar weeks. Not sure their logic either for that delivery - hopefully your build date comes forward. Interestingly I complained directly to BMW and received this response - Maybe they are talking about 28/12 2016.............
"I am sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction on the lead time of your new BMW, I can confirm that this year we have been fighting for production slots from other country’s due to the high demand of particular models yours being one of them. I am unable to comment on the other orders you are referring to arriving sooner as I do not have the order information."
So it does seem the delays are due to high demand after all!
Got an update on mine this morning from BMW customer services - was at 5055 on 15/09/2015 and they have sent me the full VIN. The last 7 digits when decoded seem to indicate a production date of today! (17/09/2015). Does that mean my car has just rolled onto the production line then?
Cheers

Also long unexplained delays also on 430d M Sport Gran Coupe. Ordered early June for build slot early August with a Sept 1st delivery. Production delayed but only told until late August. Car now at 5500 and built but told no delivery until mid to late October? Nobody (dealer or BMW UK) can tell me why. Anyone know why it is taken 6 weeks + to get car to UK?

I can confirm that it is the engine 335d that is causing the delays. BMW can't keep up with demand. So much so, they have now put mine back from end of October, to the end of December. I am not impressed at all.
That's totally pants....do they offer any goodwill reductions/increase spec for such a long delay?bigfish said:

To be fair to my dealer, I have really screwed them down on price of everything on my motor. Because they are a family business, they really have bent over backwards to get my customer and meet the price targets I have set them, so I aren't really complaining get too much. However, I have just turned the screw a little tighter and requested a full rubber mat set including the boot. Just a quick update on this but was I was informed that my new 3 series was at sea last Wednesday.
This was approximately 5 weeks after ordering the car and having being told by the dealer to expect a mid November delivery date.
If anything this is ahead of schedule and I'm hoping it will be ready to pick up over the next couple of weeks, certainly before the end of the month if the delivery timeline of other forumers is anything to go by.
So no factory delays here and hopefully everyone else isn't experiencing delays on their order either.
